I went in there extremely upset to start with. My Mother had just died and they wouldn't deliver the Shiva Platters "because they were backed up with deliveries"...It was the Friday of Yom Kippur...REALLY?? If you are going to be busy, hire another driver temporarily.
When I walked in, I had to say 4 times that I was picking up an order and waiting to talk to the manager. I still had the dirt on my hands from burying my mother and I had to deal with this to boot! Not a good start!
The manager walked into the room and said "Hi. honey. How can I help you?" Strike 1 After stating my case, he asked me if I wanted the order or not...I said of COURSE I want the order, I have 25 people coming back to the house!" I then made statement that Ben's Kosher Deli would have bothered to deliver the order (the location was the grand total of 3 miles away!) He told me that we had the option to go to Ben's, and that it wasn't his problem. Again, I told him to manage and that if he was going to be that busy to hire another driver if they knew they were going to be busy. Things started to escalate. Voices were raised, admittedly, it was by BOTH of us.
I was threatened with the order not going in my car, but back in the kitchen. Strike 2! I got in between the order and the people standing there, the manager included and told him I would be MORE than glad to call the police. I asked him if he knew what Social Media was...he stated "If I see any kind of review ANYWHERE online, I'm going to sue the person who's name is on this order!" I stated that he could only sue if it was slanderous (it has to be a lie to be slanderous!), and I'd like to see him try. There were no serving pieces (tongs/spoons/plates/napkins) in with the 2 platters of cold cuts (Pastrami, Corned Beef and Turkey), 4 bowls of salad (2 potato and 2 coleslaw), 2 bowls of pickles (both half sour and garlic dill), assorted dressings (mustard and russian dressing) and 2 bread platters (both rye bread and club rolls which looked like Italian Bread cut into 4 inch chunks)). I told him to "Make it right and give me everything I need, including serving pieces" as I put the boxes in my car. Someone went into the kitchen and came out with a plastic bag. he underhand tossed it to me and said "Now get the hell out of my restaurant". STRIKE 3! (OH, and BY THE WAY, there were plastic forks, knives, spoons, paper plates and napkins in the bag...STILL NO SERVING PIECES after being asked for *specifically!)
My family has been going there for the better part of 15 years. We are NEVER any less than a table of 6, if not a table of (up to) 10. The bill is always at least $100.00. I told him that it was the last time that he would ever be seeing business from my family.
I wasn't asking him to deliver a can of soda and a kinish...this was a $250.00 plus order...
The individual in question has NO management skills, nor does he deserve my family's business, or, in MY humble opinion, ANY orders for catering after the treatment given. I will swear to any and all statements in court if necessary...I'd like him to attempt to sue when everything here is the truth...the only thing he didn't do was actually lay his hands on me!
Really, go to Ben's Kosher Deli. Their managers know what...
Read moreWhile out to dinner with my family I witnessed an extremely poor display of customer service by the owner of the restaurant. An elderly couple expressed their dislike of the cabbage they ordered of it being hard to cut into and inedible. When the owner came over to the table carrying back out the food they returned, he embarrassed himself in front of other customers by refusing to take it off the menu and insisting they pay for it instead of doing the right thing and allowing them to order something else. His "policies" are barbaric and no where close to restaurant standards. His actions have cost him a handful of customers that will never return and it's and shame because of the look of it they needed help filling the tables. He's lucky it wasn't me he mouthed off to because I would have turned that table upside down and walked the hell out not...
Read moreThe best thing about this place was the apps. We got potato pancakes, cornbeef poppers, and knishes (it was St Patty's Day after all). Those were fine but then the waiter seemed more angry with us than he should have been. Every time we asked him for something he would roll his eyes and just walk off (and only ask one person at a time if they wanted refills before walking away to ask again), just a very rude man who I wouldnt like to deal with again. Then the meals seemed bland and flavorless with no idea of what a serving is. My Pulled Pork Sandwich could feel me fore three dinners. And it came with ranch sauce? Like what's up with that. Everyone else seemed bored with their food (my dad seemed embarrassed that he said to come here for the holiday) and I wouldnt return. Pastrami King...
