Lengo's Ice Cream World — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Much happiness here: great senior, friendly, couple; as the operating owners; that are rather reasonably: polite; well info-ed; &, long community-serving partners; at the head of, a Chino-TAIWANESE family, that's a stable; &, local small-business, enterprise; w/: great products; &, they're multilingual; semi, blended-in bi-culturals, who are: Taiwanese-speaking; &, relatively capable, commercial-language usage type of English speakers as well; but, look out for confusing; odd, pronunciation twists. All meaning that they demo: decency; honesty; fairness; integrity; kindness; caring; niceness; &, very wonderful acts of community interest; attention; warmth; &, involvement. They're accomodating folks who're fine cases of: people; that offer: many, good, healthy, food; &, beverage ideas, that're pretty well represented here; sold at: neat prices; w/: a, simple vibe; giving casual helpful replies; combined w/: a, sense of health; &, wellness in store items; &, having a notably hi-level of many pleasing choices that're all over, around its' rather tiny interior. It's relatively easy to buy, since it's a true: family-run; literal Mom/Pop shop; so they can, try & work harder; &, care more; too. They do also have, in the front; a, VERY small, outdoors, strip-mall variety, of parking lot; w/: a tiny section devoted to just: 1 or 2 of their customers at once. Seems like a health-oriented, Mini-"Chino" adaptation of an, alt type of, highly: health-aware; &, health-conscious: "bodega" style of TINY grocery store; plus: a, treat shop; which has: low-cal; low; &, no-fat; &, low; &, no-sugar; low; &, no-carb; paleo; &, keto items; etc.; plus: soft; &, hard; liquid; chilled; dry; ready-made; cookable; frozen; fresh forms of their items; that focus on inclusively allowing various types of dietary food eaters; allergen avoidant food eaters; &, other, assorted, alt sorts of digestibles consumers, the ability to buy some more desirable foods/drinks. This is a sadly, TOO small sized; but, preserved throwback to times when the following were possible: a smaller, simpler, easier; store environs, existing successfully; yet, in a way that's: a warmer version of: a cleaner, less complicated, more reasonable, convenient, pleasant; &, less-trouble outlet; to buy: products that feel notably far less problematic; &, where things are more accessible; &, in many ways, felt better overall. It's a nicely neater; friendlier; comfier; cozier alternative, to: ALL of the junk, of these, modern day; contemporary; &, recent eras. A few of my stronger negatives here: VERY sadly, no popcorn of any kind, is sold here!; since, it's not a big seller; even tho, I still love it!; &, also, sadly, my favorite,-non-sugared, fake ice-cream flavors: Black Cherry; Black Raspberry; &, Coffee, are just: not popular enough, to be made regularly! Lastly, I've strongly wanted them for an HUGELY long time; to deliver, too; but, they still do -NOT hire any delivery people!! That is my #1 Gripe!; as I have NO self-transport! -PLEASE HIRE DELIVERERS!! I do Not, however: mind its' appearance looking dated; which lends it very much added charm!! I dislike the facts, that: oftentimes "Lengo" 's owners can't remain calm; &, patient, even through their busy times; I also very strongly wish that there were actual, fresh, meal, food choices available; not just snacking; &, dessert: foods; &, drinks; plus, their charge machine only works inconsistently; however, my like for this place is remains; based on their positives, like: nice chocolate; pretzels, water; chips; snacks, energy bars; etc. Lastly, please note, that since my first dealing w/: this: charming, adorable, quaint; lovable, endearing, miniscule, valuably precious, tiny niche-market segment shop, well over 3.5 years ago; they've repeatedly told me; &, many others, that they're -VERY soon: closing up their biz; meaning: all operations; permanently; yet, they've NOT: done so, thus far.

So happy that Instagram lead me to this store right in my own neighborhood that I’ve passed 100 times!! lol I initially sought it out looking for Royo Bagels and when I read the reviews and looked at the pictures I knew it was so much more. Sure enough I was greeted with the biggest smile and most encouraging welcome. I had to try the ice cream which I’m sparingly eating because it’s just so delicious I don’t want it to end. I also loved the Royo bagels which I came in for. They had all the flavors but I just picked 1 to try it. The best part I like about this store is that they sell the items individually. So I don’t have to buy a 90 day supply of proteins bars from Costco to find out it tastes like wood and then spend 1 hour on the line to return it. Lol you can try all different kids at the same time. I tried the Magic Spoon Double Chocolate Rice Cake. It was good enough to satisfy my sweet tooth , but eventually in the end got so grainy. None the less, happy I had it, and can’t wait to visit again to try more stuff. I’ve already spread the word of the bagels to several people, so I’m sure I’ll be going back...

Nothing like hitting up a good ol' mom & pop-style ice cream shop after a light dinner on Merrick Rd! My friend and I decided to pop in to Lengo's to investigate their menu - needless to say, after a look around and a few samples, we were sold!

We ended up splitting a large ice cream (up to three flavors) and packed in our $4 treat with cookie monster, chocolate chip cookie dough, and mint chocolate chip. We got a disproportionally large heaping of cookie monster (the first flavor we mentioned to the server), which my friend wasn't too fond of, but was fine by me! Cookie monster is a chocolate ice cream infused with Oreo's, brownies, fudge, and chocolate crunch, and BOY was that delicious! The mint chocolate chip was decent, but the chocolate chip cookie dough was SEVERELY lacking in cookie dough.

Prices were extremely reasonable and menu extensive, so I definitely see a return visit and some new flavor combinations...
