Yhum Yhum Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

(Update) I have been using Yhum Yhum Kitchen for about 4 years and I've found my orders to be generally good and the deliveries usually on time. Their phone responses have been understandable and friendly. However, I've noticed some negatives as time went along. One of these was the increase in prices and a delivery fee that is probably common to most places, but they also stopped serving duck (one of my favorites) and recently failed to deliver an order and then delivered it warm vs hot. I always ask for delivery, but I gather they misunderstood me and held it for pickup. Mistakes happen, but instead of re-doing my order they just delivered what was lying there. Also, I ordered Lobster and Chicken Kew for the first time, and really had a hard time finding the lobster (no exaggeration). As a result, my rating has gone down, and I will be looking for another restaurant. I'm not saying that they are bad. I just no longer think that they rate above the competition.

I just tried Yhum Yhum Kitchen for the first time and I ordered take-out. Making the order by phone was very easy and their prices were reasonable. The delivery was on-time, in fact a couple minutes early. The driver was friendly, the food all-there, hot and delicious. Everything was provided and neatly packed, including the typical condiments. I recommend this place, but I have found after months of using the restaurant that some dishes, while tasting quite good, have few or no vegetables.

My wife has mentioned this lack of vegetables a few times to me (she is a vegetarian), but in the dishes I typically get this has not been a problem. I ordered shrimp w. lobster sauce and found absolutely no vegetables in it (I've had it many times in the past and it normally comes with peas, and upon checking it apparently should have carrots as well). I expect I can request the peas in the future, so I will likely do that, since the food is normally good and what I said above still holds regarding the ease of...

We first started ordering here when they first opened, a little more than a year ago. The service was great at that time. The delivery person was always friendly and thanked us for ordering. We ordered often since we just had a baby and no time for cooking. Now- I don't know if ownership changed, but the food does not taste as good, they raised the prices, and the delivery people the last 3 times have been extremely unfriendly. They also charged us extra and didn't include the eggroll and fried rice. They charged us for a full meal and white rixe on the side. They blamed it on us because we didn't say "Combo". OF COURSE we didn't say combo! Their menu lists it as "Dinner Special" !!!!!

When we left a $5 dollar tip and we only live literally 2 minutes away, the guy didn't look up as we said thank you, and instead, looked at the money and walked off without making eye contact at all. A few weeks ago, the delivery person stayed on the phone the entire time, I said hello, and they gave me my food- again no eye contact and absolutely no hello back, or anything.

I hope the owner reads this... you've lost our service. We have ordered here many times, despite the taste having changed. We can find a better Chinese restaurant. For the sake of your google ratings, at the very least, adjust your customer...

Beef with Garlic sauce 5/5 - custom order mild. It really was mild spice. Not much corn starch which is great. A lot of beef slices. Flavor overall is very good. My kids devoured all of it. So far it’s the best tasting near us.

Chicken with Curry - 4.75/5. Not much cornstarch which also is great. Just needs slightly more curry, not spicy enough. Chicken is cooked perfectly, very tender.

Gen Tso chicken - To be fair, this is takeout with 20 min drive so it’s not going to be crispy. 4.75 for slight crispy. Flavor is 5/5. Not much cornstarch. Just right about of sugar, not overpowering sweet. What surprises me, this is spicy in a very good way. Gen Tso chicken is usually just sweet with no spice. This has an aftertaste spice kick. Great flavor. Looking forward what it taste like fresh out of the frier.

Service is great, very pleasant with the owner manning the front. There’s a lot of wholesale products stashed in the front, space is a premium but understandable considering how busy this place is on a Wed 11:45am. Customers keep coming in and out. Very promising as a first time customer visiting this place. Reviews and the flavors justify this place.
