One of my favorite places to go while in the Sayville area in New York. The food is always great… Servers are always attentive and write on the spot. The place is usually very crowded so with regard to atmosphere it has a Jolly well lived in feel. Every time I’ve been there it has been spot on with regard to the seafood and specials. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic candlelight place this is probably not for you. This is a fun place with lots of people enjoying great food. Bartenders are always talkative and fun and very welcoming. I have been going to the Sayville Inn for the better part of 35 years in this new incarnation is wonderful. Whatever the owner is doing is working. Well done!!!

The staff was very friendly and attentive here. The boneless wings were crunchy and perfectly sauced. The seasoned waffle fries were the crispest and least greasy we’ve ever had. The manhattan clam chowder was clearly a homemade endeavor as the clams were perfectly tender and not even the slightest bit chewy, a sign of them being added after the soup was prepared. The French dip was perfectly portioned with very tender meat, and due to being rolled in a house made flatbread, left adequate room for the riverbottom pie, pictured, which lasted mere minutes. Great job on the subtle salinity in the oreo crust, which enhanced the coffee flavor of the filling.

Had the scallop, rice and corn salad special. It certainly was. The corn salad was excellent. The rice was a bit over cooked . The scallops were mostly cooked well. Some were over cooked and sandy but , you know seafood. There was an abundance of them however, 8. Then had riverboat pie for dessert. Coffee ice cream with chocolate crust. It was fine. Nothing to rave about one way or the other. The hostess Emily , was nice and personable. The wife had steak taco, which she thought was excellent. It was a little on the spicy side though. Also had a caramel martini which she liked. The service was good.

Overall terrible experience. I went there with my family for dinner, crammed into a tiny spot, uncomfortably close to other guests eating. The service was horrible: extremely slow and the waitress was not very friendly or accommodating. The worst part about it was the food, every member of my family was completely dissatisfied with their meal. Bland, tasteless, with no flavor. I got the margarita pizza appitizer which was not even close to what a margarita pizza is supposed to be. No sauce, just chopped tomatoes and balsamic dressing on a stale pita... absolutely horrible. Terrible wine selection as well. Service was painfully slow and the food was way too expensive for the quality of it. My whole family was very unhappy when we left and felt like we had been cheated... will never go back here again. I don't usually write reviews for anything, and I have never written a bad review for a restaurant before because I usually can't be bothered, but I just was so upset with this place that I had to voice my opinion to warn others...

The restaurant appeared closed when we stopped by lunch yesterday at 12:30. The front door was closed and there were no other cars parked in back; non-existent “curb appeal”. My wife and I have been coming to the former Sayville Inn for over 35 years, but this was our second visit since new ownership. Pros: their cheeseburgers are outstanding! Actually tastes like a burger should, and bonus points for serving it on an English muffin. Very good waffle fries.

Cons: Ladies room was dirty and dusty and there were no paper towels. Bartender served us at our table in other bar area, but didn’t bus our table after we had eaten. When we asked if there was a weekday Happy Hour, he had no idea. Nor if they had live music.

Reasonably priced, and the space still looks like the classic old version. An owner was on premises, but didn’t come by to ask how everything was. Simple foundation of a good...
