Holy Pho Ga!
My supervisor was right when he told me the 'regular' size Pho bowl was massive, felt like I was eating for two!
Ordered ahead over the phone, going with the Vegetable Egg Rolls, Pork Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon, and the Pho Ga. (Chicken Pho) All together coming to a little under $39 before tax and tip. Seems pretty proportional, given the insane amount of Pho included.
Starting off the crab rangoon was amazing, no issues there, kind of hard to mess up fried dough wraps filled with cream cheese and crab. The egg rolls were right there with them, crunchy, refreshing vegetable filling, and paired really well with the sweet chili dip. The springs rolls were, not quite what I was expecting. Firstly they were so sticky that they glued themselves to the wax paper in the container, ruining one as I tried to pull it off. I was also expecting a lot more pork filling, given these are "pork spring rolls" but the majority of the filling is lettuce and other vegetables. It did pair nicely with the peanut dip, but I'd probably skip these were I to return.
Finally the Pho itself, was, as stated, huge. There's so much to it, noodles, bean sprouts, chicken, the chicken soup, it really was a lot. The flavor of the chicken stock was superb, super rich, like they somehow liquified an actual chicken to make it. But the chicken was heavily seasoned with cilantro, and while I'm not a soapy taster, this was just overpowering. I fought to find area without the green flakes of the stuff just to catch a break, really need to tone that down. I was able to make it about half way before I had to throw in the towel, it honestly was too much, because after awhile it just is the same flavor and texture over and over again in every mouthful. Even Beard Meats Food has trouble with this sorta thing.
Overall, for what you pay, this is a great deal. But just know it will be quite a lot if you're just thinking of stoping by for lunch, and be warned that cilantro will be at play in at least the...
Read moreMama’s Pho has been an absolute gem for me. From the moment I stepped in, I felt like I was being welcomed into a family. The food is simply incredible—every dish is packed with flavor and authenticity that brought me back to my mom’s cooking. It’s rare to find Vietnamese food this good, especially near where I live, and it’s so heartwarming to finally have more representation of our cuisine in the area.
For anyone wondering what to try, I highly recommend B2 on the menu—it’s absolutely delicious! I also ordered C3 along with a Thai iced tea, and everything was just perfect. The balance of flavors and freshness in each dish is spot on.
The service is equally amazing. The staff are so kind, attentive, and genuinely sweet, which makes every visit even more special. They treat every guest with such care that you feel right at home. I can't recommend this place enough—it’s not just about the food, it’s the whole experience. Mama’s Pho truly brings the flavors of Vietnam and the warmth of its people into every meal. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I encourage everyone to support this...
Read moreUnbelievable! This place has the best pho in the entire Albany and Saratoga area! The rolls were delicious, and the marinated beef was amazing, but the pho was absolutely out of this world! The flavor was incredibly rich, and the vegetables were so fresh that I was genuinely surprised.
The staff and the owner were super friendly, and you could really feel their passion for what they do. Today, I tried three different dishes, and every single one was fantastic. This place has definitely earned my trust!
Everyone, do yourself a favor and come try their pho—it’s a must! I couldn’t be happier with my meal today!
(I stopped by again on another day for dinner and tried a new menu item out of curiosity. It was a curry chicken dish, or a dish with chicken in curry, and it was incredibly delicious! They suggested dipping crispy bread into the soup, and wow! It was so tasty! The chicken was also so incredibly tender, making it yet another...
