We were not impressed to say the least. When Mr. Massie owned the restaurant that’s what it was a restaurant with a bar, not a bar we were there all the time, first for lunch when they were open for lunches and we would chat with Mr Massie, John was a great cook whom I always said Hi and had short conversations with, the food always tasted the same, you got more than enough, waiters were also great. All you had to do was maybe paint, update the bathrooms, put new rugs down and serve the same foods. We would also go for dinners, special occasions (birthdays ect…) After the sale, the remodel and reopening we couldn’t believe what you guys did to the place, there was nothing that looked the same, when I asked I was told the pictures were the same…… everything was cheap, dark gloomy, uncomfortable you were lucky the table was big enough, it was so loud you were lucky you could hear yourself think looking at the new menu…. And the place echoed on top of being so loud ,. with the increase in price we ordered our usual, it took forever to be served but we did have garlic toast which was the same and salad first, soda glasses were smaller, and when our meals arrived, that also had gotten smaller with a price increase. I used the ladies room before we left, the remodel was nice, but built opposite of the kitchen wall that was so thin you could hear everything they were talking about in the kitchen, which gross me out thinking of bacteria from a bathroom that close to a kitchen. That did it for me the last straw as far as I was concerned, they ruined a generations passed down , one of the areas best Italian restaurants if not the best. We paid our very expensive bill left a nice tip for the waitress and never went back. One restaurant always told people to go to and raved about, I just kept my mouth shut. I didn’t until now say anything and when asked, said it had changed looks and new things on the menu, and told friends to go and try it for themselves. I’m sorry to see that your closed, good luck with what you...
Read more1 star is actually generous for the experience we had on 8/19/2021. For an Italian restaurant that has been in business for so many years we were EXTREMELY disappointed(maybe our expectations were too high). First, there was no bread and butter served to enjoy while we waited for our entrees as most/all Italian restaurants do but we were told garlic bread came with our dinner. That would have been perfectly fine had the garlic bread NOT been regular white bread with a garlic butter sauce and toasted. I had ordered the veal parmesan (un-breaded which was odd) and my husband had the beef braciole. Both were served with gravy(sauce) obviously. We had 2 different kinds of sauce with zero seasoning (no garlic/parsley/basil to be seen or tasted, which should 100% be the case). My gravy/sauce was clearly burnt and tasted burnt and a little off. My husbands gravy tasted different, although still bland, but the braciole was tasty and tender. The un-breaded veal was ok, not tender but not overcooked either Even our sides of spaghetti had 2 different sauces on them not to mention the spaghetti was clumped like it was sitting around cold and they threw on the gravy. I did not finish my meal as it just didn't taste quite right. We did not complain as it wouldn't have helped because clearly this is the way the cook their meals (I am sure there wasn't another batch sauce they had that was better) so we chalked it up to a lesson learned. Fast forward 5 hrs to me vomiting for an hour. I do recommend this place for Italian food, maybe some of their other entrees are fine but that was NOT...
Read moreMy birthday at Massies. Walked in had a funny dirty smell, should of left. Place was empty in the restaurant. Sat down the table was rocking , host tried to fix it but didn't . The waitress tried and finally my son fixed it. Coffee was excellent, Martini was excellent, bread was excellent but be careful if you ask for more bread its 3.50 extra, they do not tell you that. Liver pate good, salad good. That is where it ends. The soup was so salty my lips burned. The sauce on the pasta was not good. My husbands chicken Marsala was tasty but cold a very greasy. I doubt they have a chef. The food was not plated like a good chef would . I ordered Lobster at 37 bucks. I asked the waitress is it nice and moist not over cooked, she said yes it is excellent. WELL IT WAS LIKE TWO PIECES OF DRIED UP CARDBOARD. No true chef would ever send that out to a table. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. So I replaced it with a steak 27 bucks. It was tasty but again the entire steak was covered in salt AWFUL. No chef or manager ever came to the table to say anything to us. My husband told them it was my birthday and they said we do not do anything special for birthdays. REALLY . Now I know why the place was empty. The waitress Carol was excellent to good for that dump. Smelled like a cesspool. I went there because Mama Mia's was booked up, this place was totally empty in the restaurant section LOL now I know why. Anyone who thinks this is good Italian food has never experienced true...
