I came in from PA to spend a weekend with my family in the Bronx. They planned an outing to Sleepy Hollow for the day. As a New Yorker for 45 years and now semi retired in PA, I was very much looking forward to this since 2019.
We visited small shops, walked around, saw the parade, and so on. Since I had read on Friday that the area would be busy I made a reservation for us online to dine Saturday October 25th. We arrived and were seated quickly. That was the best part. No table service with utensils nor napkins. I had to request these for our table and when the teen girl brought it to us it was not properly handled, still wet, and no napkins! I told her just hand them to me and I wiped them down and distributed to family.
Food - literally 65% of what we ordered was not available- no burgers, falafel, even Pelligrino, and again iced tea. My nephew had to order a meal he didn't like, my lovely niece had mac and cheese that was swimming in cheese. I was now miserable and upset.😡 I work for a hospitality group in Milford, PA and couldn't wrap my head around how this was even happening. The waitress really wanted to hide I'm sure as I questioned the situation at hand several times.
I heard some loud lady in the kitchen yelling about spinach and something else. The lady who was yelling earlier was now on the dining room asking about meals and that the event street closure caused issues. What issues - you're either prepared with additional provisions for these events or you're not. This could not be their first rodeo. As a topping to this evening, the bathroom was a disaster. Apparently 10 minutes of someone visiting both for a quick clean up was beyond their scope.
The 2 teens working there looked miserable and not trained at all. How do you bring water to a table and have your fingers in the as you set it down. They looked dazed and...
Read moreThe food was really fantastic. The service was fine. We went when the restaurant was empty, around 4 pm. The tables were not distanced. The hostess/waitress was attentive and warmed up as our meal went on. All the food was delicious. They gave us free pita and hummus to Stat which was awesome. They were out of spanakopita, which was disappointing, but we chose falafel instead, which was a welcome surprise. It was amazingly crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. The sauce served with it was great.
As far as entrees, I got the chicken souvlaki and he got the trout. They were both great. The chicken in the souvlaki was some of the most flavorful I've had. And the tzatziki it came with was great. I'm not usually a big fan of tzatziki but midway through the sandwich I was literally dunking it into the sauce. So impressed by the flavor and quality of the food.
Overall, we found Santorini delicious. Although the service wasn't the best we have had, our wait person was attentive for the most part and our meal was a reasonable price, considering we got an app and two entrees. If we find ourselves in Tarrytown again, we will definitely come back here. Let's just hope they have the spanakopita next time!
P.S. we got two orders of Baklava to go. They were large pieces and were flavorful. Just don't heat them up if you eat them at home; they...
Read moreWe arrived around 5:15 p.m. and didn’t leave until almost 8 p.m. because the food took forever to come out. We tried to be understanding since the restaurant was very busy and asked to move to an indoor table because it was very cold outside and I had my pet with me. After asking several times, I finally spoke with the manager, who apologized and said she would have us moved. However, none of the servers helped us relocate—we had to move everything ourselves and find a new table.
The manager later came by to check on us and kindly offered drinks, but when the food finally arrived, one of the dishes (the shrimp) was cold, and two of our plates were missing items that were supposed to be included. We decided to eat anyway since we had already waited so long. We also had to ask for silverware three times before it was finally brought to the table.
When the waitress came back, we asked for the check and mentioned one of the dishes that wasn’t right, saying we didn’t want to wait any longer. Her response was that “everyone had to wait,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I told her that such delays are not the customers’ fault—it’s a management issue. She only acknowledged the food mistake but not the long...
