I don’t know how this place got 4 stars, if I could give it zero I would. We took a day trip to Sleepy Hollow and decided to get lunch before adventuring around. There was a massive crowd on beekman due to a street market event so finding a restaurant that could seat all 8 of us without an hours wait seemed impossible. We saw this restaurant had gotten good reviews and decided to go in. The minute we walked in we should’ve just u-turned it out of there. It took a while for the waitstaff to acknowledge our group, at first I felt bad because there were maybe 2-3 people waiting on tables so we anticipated a bit of slow service, however the wait once seated was ridiculous. I can understand being stressed from being understaffed but the waitress was straight rude. As soon as she walked over to take our order she interrupted me to state they didn’t have grilled chicken, im not sure why she felt the need to cut me off because I hadn’t even mentioned the word chicken. Halfway through taking our order she excuses her self saying one moment, walks away and doesn’t come back for about 5 minutes then saying she needed to start our order over again (misplaced order?) no apology just straight to the point. She comes back with a pitcher of water and glasses and leaves them on the side of the table and walks away. She did not come back until the first plate of food was served over an hour later. Again, I get if your understaffed and trying to wait too many tables but she could have came over to let us know the hold up and at the very least apologize. Looking around we could see several tables also waiting a long time for their food as well. One group of ladies left, if we hadn’t already been waiting so long with our young kids that were tired and hungry, and had come on a day it wasn’t so crazy packed in nearby restaurants we would have left too. I actually wanted to warn people that came in and were seated after us!
The food was ok, not terrible but not worth the wait or the price. It’s a shame too, with so many other Peruvian restaurants in the area you would think they’d appreciate any customers they can get. I’d caution anyone...
Read moreMancor, a delightful and evocative Peruvian restaurant nestled in the heart of the hollow, offers an exceptional culinary journey that transcends the typical expectations of Latin American cuisine. From the moment you step through the door, you are met with an ambiance that seamlessly blends traditional Peruvian charm with modern sophistication. The vibrant yet soothing décor immediately transports you to the colorful streets of Lima, where the fusion of indigenous ingredients and colonial influences creates a culinary tapestry unlike any other. The menu at Mancor showcases a thoughtful array of traditional Peruvian dishes, each prepared with care and precision. From the saltado to arroz and grilled meats, there is a rich diversity of flavors and textures that make every bite feel like a discovery. However, the true star of my meal was the salchipapas, a dish that, despite its humble name, represents the soul of Mancor’s culinary approach. The beauty and simplicity of the dish reminded me of my first girlfriend. The salchipapas, a combination of the crisp potatoes and salty meat created a reaction on my tongue which hasn’t been expierienced since never. A truly enlightening experience and one for every fooder of...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Mancora due to the extremely slow service. We had to get up and get the menu at the bar because nobody ever came over to offer us a menu. My party and I waited for over an hour and forty-five minutes before our food arrived, and it was evident that the staff was disorganized. The waitress took our order twice because she couldn't put the first order in, she never apologized for the delay or provided any explanation. The slow service significantly impacted our overall dining experience, and we were left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. While the food itself was decent, the food was overpriced and the poor service overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. The gratuity fee is included for parties over 6 people which is extremely frustrating because the waitress did not deserve a tip. She would put the food, drinks and cups at the end of the table and we would pass it down the food and serve our own drinks. The waitress never smiled, never checked to see if we needed anything else. We even walked to the bar to get ice for our drinks. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure that future patrons do not have to endure similar...
