We entered the restaurant with hopes held high, a group of idealistic patrons looking for a tasty meal. PNG showed promise, so we decided to embark on a dining experience, nay, journey at this New Paltz establishment. Little did we know that over the course of our journey, our hopes, once so elevated, would become as low as the dirty floor of the bathroom at PNG. After being seated we scanned the too-large and overpriced menu for the meal that would fuel our disappointment and dashed dreams. At this point I feel it is important to describe the ambience of the establishment; imagine the Ritz-Carrolton hotel, but now imagine that it has a dingy basement that smells like cigarettes and week old fried food. The lighting can be compared to that of the first scene of The Godfather, where the lighting is used to startle the viewer while creating an atmosphere of unease and an overall sense of darkness. However the restaurant does not have a cool mafia vibe, rather that you can't see what you are eating or who you are dining with. Another important factor to consider is the noise level- conversation is something you expect to hear and have a restaurant, but at this place the music is so loud that you are forced to raise your voice and listen intently to have any sort of conversation. This creates a self perpetuating cycle of voices raising in an attempt to exchange words your chosen company. Needless to say, it is unpleasant and as a result many members of my party exited the restaurant with aching heads. Let us move onto the actual food served at the restaurant, which we received an hour after it was ordered. An entire hour passed. As I mentioned before conversation was incredibly difficult, so much like the owner of the vehicle in the song Car Radio, we sat in silence. When the food finally arrived our weary souls rejoiced! But not for long. After excitedly digging into the crabcakes, I discovered that they reminded me of dry ice; icy and dry. I informed my waitress the state of my crab cakes temperature, she then offered a curt apology and took my plate. I assumed that she would remedy the situation with fresh cakes, however she returned to me momentarily with same plate of crustacean based meat patties. It was my conclusion that she had simply microwaved my plate, but upon further inspection I discovered a few things The plate was not warm The lemons on the plate were not warm The slaw on the plate was not warm The cakes were in the same arrangement as when I sent them back They were still cold From these clues my revised conclusion is that either My food was microwaved for a very brief amount of time Or She took the food and brought it back without doing anything to change the temperature Neither of which I would expect from any respectable restaurant. A few other points of interest include an incredibly rude and impatient waitress who answered questions in a disdainful manner of superiority usually found in middle aged women who manage Sephoras. This same waitress neglected to bring my mother the drink she ordered. She sat there, waiting for a drink that would never come and food that came but left her realizing she wished it never had. She also never returned to refill our water pictures, which sat empty on the table for almost the entire duration of our visit to PNG. The condensation slowly dripped down the plastic walls of the receptacle and perspired onto the table, completely defeating the purpose of something that is designed to contain water. As my fingers weary of typing, I leave you with a question- is the restaurant described above somewhere you want to spend your money, time, or energy? If the answer is yes, I respect your right to have an opposing opinion, but...
Read moreI have lived in the area for the past 27 years, now living in Goshen, ny, We decided to meet friends of ours at P & G's that we havent seen in about a year. We arrived at 1:30., apparently our friends were there since 12:30. still eating their meal. When we arrived, it was quite crowded, so I didnt see a waitress. I finally did and went over to annouce that we were here and would like a menu and could they send over a waitress. While in conversation with our friends, a young woman came over to us, to tell us that she could not serve us because there were other people ahead of us and it was not fair to them because they have been waiting for 45 minutes. I wasnt comprehending her line of thought, and assumed she misunderstood us, and again said our friends are here, we just came, and now we are ready to order. She said we cant take your order because you werent here when your friends arrived. She said this was the restaurants policy. My husband , who has a psychotherapy practice in the area was also aghast. When I said I would like to speak to the manager ,because I have never heard of any restaurant having a policy that would not serve guests of someone sitting already eating at a table., she said she was the manager. We immediately got up and left for A very good meal at a new Vietnamese restaurant in town, never, never to come back to P & G's again. Not only was the experience frustrating, and disappointing not be able to eat with our friends ,but humiliating as well, and all of the people around us agreed. Our friends did meet us at the Vietnamese restaurant and were not turned away because we got their...
Read moreThis is my first time going to this restaurant and I was actually amazed of their service the waitress was incredibly nice she put in all of the orders we requested I like the wild west vibe atmosphere inside the restaurant however I must say the chef messed up our food the chef didn't season the chicken wings at all they were tasteless and not well cooked the chef forgot to serve my coleslaw even though the waitress put it in the system she apologized and finally served my coleslaw it was amazingly delicious I asked for grilled bacon cheese sandwich and the chef forgot to put bacon inside my sandwich that's unacceptable the waitress apologized and made sure they cooked the bacon and served it on the side so I could add it to my sandwich I shouldn't have to do that as a consumer when it's the chefs job to put bacon inside the sandwich but everything else was on the money I enjoyed their awesome food I don't blame the waitress at all it wasn't her fault she said she put everything in the order it's the chefs fault for not getting the order right I understand the chefs are rushing but it's their job to get the order right with no screw-ups otherwise you will upset the consumer and they will likely never come back but I'm not evil like that my whole family will definitely come back here again one day and hopefully the chefs improve their photographic memory skills I will update this review again in the near future when I come back here again that's all I'm...
