I was in New Paltz for work, beautiful little town! When dinner time rolled around I was surprised to find few, if any, food establishments open after 9pm. Not a shock to me on most trips... but in a college town where bars are open till 4am? Where do y'all eat late at night here lol? Anyway, I was relieved to find something. I opted for a "small" broccoli white pizza. I also ordered a 10 piece wing, buffalo style. I came at the time specified. My pizza was done, wings were not. I was told another 7 minutes. I know how long wings cook for, and pizza too as I worked at many pizza shops in my yute. So timing was off here. I was more hungry than upset though. I grabbed my order and had to check for an extra blue cheese that I had ordered over the phone, was charged for, but wouldnt have gotten if I didnt check. All these things I can look past, provided the food is good. The pizza was pretty solid. For being a small, it was very good size and would probably feed a family of 4. The crust was fairly thin, cooked right, with a good bite. Presentation was good with the large spreads of ricotta. Decent portion of the broccoli scattered on top. I do think that it could've used a touch more salt, maybe the ricotta washes out some of the white sauce seasoning? In any case it was a solid pie, 7 1/2 - 8 out off 10. The wings....fell short. The pros, they were hot (temp), not undercooked, and the buffalo sauce was respectable....and I'm from the Buffalo area. The bad, and I attribute much of this to the to go container they use, was that the outside of the wings were soggy/rubbery. My hotel was very close by, and I know they had just come out of the fryer...hard to expect crispy perfection on any to-go wings I suppose, but a vented comtainer might help. I like some crisp to my wing! Wings were 3 out of 10 and would be lower if the buffalo sauce wasnt good. I think 5 stars is tough to rank accurately, so I gave the place a 3, though I think they're closer to a 4 than a 3. Pizza was the high point and a great value. I'd love to try a different pie configuration if back in town, though I'd skip the...
Read moreGourmet has really good pizza! I’ve lived here for a while and have eaten all kinds of pizza in this town over the years. I still like this place a lot as far as taste goes!
Where they are absolutely HORRIBLE is if you’re ordering delivery. Their customer service is abhorrent to a degree I can’t fathom since they’re a business that’s been in town for many years. My wife and I ordered a pizza today at 5:55 and we were told it’d be ~45 minutes. Well, over an HOUR AND A HALF later, we have the pizza which is cold as ice and we’re told the delivery person had phone issues. Phone issues that took over 45 minutes past my delivery expectation to resolve?! Come on! Garlic knots were also out of stock apparently despite the fact that the order was taken by phone and the guy could have just called us and said “Hey! Despite that the knots are right in front of me while we’re on the phone, I neglected to realize they’re gone! Want a substitute or should we take it off?” So, the pizza is so cold we basically have to cook it ourselves, the order wasn’t entirely what we asked for, and by the time we ate my wife had a migraine from being so hungry!
By the way, we ordered by phone this time because we did the app that they want you to use last time and our order arrived late again after calling numerous times due to it being over 30 minutes past what it should have been. Lastly, I waited until I ate to write this to be as kind as possible because their pizza is good. Do you just not care about your customers anymore after all these years? What happened?! We’d happily continue to eat your pizza if the delivery becomes reasonable like the other places in town! Maybe we just order on days where everyone’s struggling with tons of time consuming issues! If that’s been the case, give me a freaking call rather than letting people sit there blindly wondering if they’ll ever get pizza. You can call people. You can communicate....
Read moreI used to eat here all the time before covid. This place is a staple to my college experience. However, quality has been really trash as of recently especially when they leave this blonde girl and boy in charge. The pizza dough was raw when I got home, and so were the garlic knots. My friends tried the wings and the chicken tasted like a butcher shop which means the chicken was probably extremely old. I’m honestly so disgusted and disappointed. Some of us threw up the next morning no doubt because of the actually bad food we consumed. If you wanna keep your organs intact, I’d say to go to Rinos Pizza.
Ps. I also called to let them know items were missing and that the food was raw, and they approached me with a lot of attitude while telling me to call Tuesday for the owner. Y’all think y’all slick but with this type of quality and customer service... idk man. This place isn’t what it used to be. Someone call ...
