A beautiful older ring (platinum/garnet/diamonds), intricate, detailed and also priceless in sentimental value. It had been badly damaged and by most accounts (including some of this area's supposed finest jewelers) beyond any chance of repair and hopeless to even try. Hudson Valley Goldsmith should have been my first stop with this. I watched as David initially examined the ring (and its extensive damage) - then with a definitive confidence level he calmly looked up and stated he could in fact repair this beautiful ring, yet realistically it would need an extensive and time consuming approach - and here's where you realize this talented gentleman is not just a most qualified jeweler, but a true artist as well who does not shrink from a challenge.

The original materials of the ring (unique in beauty and sentimentality) were indeed restored. :) He spent countless hours laboring over the ring and when we finally came to see it and bring it home we were absolutely overwhelmed. It was as beautiful again as it was on its first day long ago. And it's meant a lot that David at Hudson Valley Goldsmith was able to do this, and so very perfectly, and this after being told by others to just melt it down or try recreating it from scratch. I worked with Jon and the team at Hudson Valley Goldsmith to design a custom engagement ring for my fiancée. We couldn't be happier with how the ring turned out, and how communicative HVG was throughout the whole process.

From the design process to keeping me updated of the progress of the ring to the care they've shown us afterwards, I wouldn't change a thing. I first encountered HVG while searching for a birthday gift for my partner. I walked in to David’s store on a humid Wednesday evening wearing sweatpants and an old t-shirt, having just arrived from the gym. One look around his immaculate store and I realised I was woefully underdressed.
