Rocco's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Town of New Paltz

11/19/24, around opening, just past 11am

I ordered food from Rocco's. Rocco himself was tending to customers taking orders. I was greeted with a frown and disinterest. I ordered cheesy garlic bread, 2 Jamaican beef patties, 2 rice balls, and bacon & cheese fries. It was only my third time ordering from there, I ordered food yesterday, 11/18 as well. However, in comparing Sue's customer service to Rocco himself, it was a completely different experience. I had a great experience with Sue waiting on my order and helping prepare it.

Today, I watched how my food was prepared while I was waiting for it. There were little black hairs from whoever was preparing my food in the garlic cheese bread (no, it wasn't just an oversight and the garlic seasoning, it really was small black hairs from whoever prepared the food), and I watched Rocco himself manhandle my beef patties with his bare hands after changing the radio station on the TV to whatever he wanted to listen to before returning to the employee area behind the counter. Lord knows what surfaces he touched during customer interactions and prepping food. The bacon and cheese fries could have been cooked better. The beef patties were manhandled in an unsanitary fashion. He wrapped up all my food, putting it in the bag before compiling everything I ordered and handing it to me. He seemed annoyed to even serve me, and it's not welcoming service or quality food when you try to bring that food back to your own family. I watched him greet his white friends with excitement and share general banter with them, but me, already coming down with some colds and congestion as it is that time of year, he seemed annoyed to even serve me and take my order, followed by unsanitary food prep. I won't be coming back any time soon. I don't recommend this...

No stars from me... Terrible customer attiquacy, and this was from the owner, so I can only imagine how that staff behaves on a regular basis. I'm a Caribbean woman, but I identify as BLACK. Once I walked in the the restaurant the owner was in the front where the ovens and counter are, along with a Mexican guy cleaning the counters. I'm a new customer, I walked straight to the counter and was looking for a menu. Not one time was my presents acknowledged, yet a white woman walk in and automatically she was greeted, "Hello how can I help you" with smiles and all. Once I found the menu and decided what I wanted, and stood at the counter, she finally asked "What can I get you". She never looked me in my eyes, not even when I went back to pick up my order. I order the most expensive thing on the menu, not that it gives me more rights for special treatment, but I came to support your trying efforts, and respect should've been given as you would've done for your white counter parts, and it wasn't given to me, and you made me feel less than. No body should feel that way when spending their hard earned money to support someone's business. I will never go back. The food was also trash. No pizzazz, just...

If you like attitude and rudeness call this place. We ordered 2 salads and two pizzas. While ordering on Sunday night 7/24/2022 the girl at the phones wasn’t helpful at all about how much the pizzas cost. I ended up getting the pizzas and salads delivered. I get up to my room and open the bags and there’s no napkins, no forks. I called back to let them know and that same rude girl tells me, “ Well, MOST PEOPLE ask for napkins and forks when they order! When I explained to this person that she knew we were ordering from the Hampton inn , she hung up on me. We spent almost $ 80 dollars for pizza after the ten dollar tip to the delivery driver. To be treated like this by this girl shows that Rocco’s is mismanaged. Believe me, you can find better service, better pizza and value somewhere else.
