My fiancé and I booked our May wedding at one of the Scotto Brothers restaurants back in September. Since then, they have changed our event coordinator three times without any communication. Despite repeatedly asking for updated forms and estimates, we received nothing, resulting in a consistently disorganized experience. Our wedding was scheduled for a Sunday, but Bijou (one of their venues) frequently mentioned their Boujee brunch, making it clear that our special day was not a priority for them.
On 4/25/24, the New York State Liquor Authority and Suffolk County PD shut down Bijou for violating multiple codes and operating an illegal nightclub. After reviewing the police report and numerous news articles, we decided to proceed with an anticipatory breach of our wedding contract, feeling unsafe holding our event at a venue involved in illegal activities. Given the circumstances, we requested a refund.
One of the owners, Rich Morici, contacted us, dismissing the news articles as fake and denying any wrongdoing, which we found absurd. He refused to fully refund our money. We are currently getting media involved and pursuing further action to collect our money back. We urge anyone considering an event at any of the Scotto Brothers venues to look elsewhere to avoid similar stress. They turned what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives into...
