My wife and I got married at the Mansion at Oyster Bay on 9/29/18. We could not be more elated with how everything went. Our guests are still raving about the amazing food, the ambiance and the professional and helpful staff. Many guests commented that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding, and one said it was the best food he had ever had in his whole life.
Not only was the wedding itself everything we had hoped for, but our entire experience with the Mansion was great. Gary, the manager, was very friendly, helpful and professional throughout the whole process. It was clear from the beginning that he knows his business and truly enjoys what he does. This set him apart from many of the people we met with at other venues. He always returned our calls promptly, had answers to our questions, explained everything clearly, had good suggestions, and was very flexible in terms of the setup, the menu etc. And, most importantly, he came through on everything he promised. He clearly sets the tone for the whole place because everyone we dealt with was fantastic. Luis, the Maitre-de, went above and beyond. He orchestrated everything perfectly throughout - he was always in the right place at the right time and made sure everyone else was too. He took excellent care of all the guests and, one thing I particularly liked was that he frequently checked up on our parents, to make sure they were getting everything they needed. Erica, the bridal assistant, was also amazing. She was super nice and incredibly helpful. At one point I needed help with a slight stain on my shirt - Erica was right there with the Tide pen to clean it. She too, went above and beyond. My wife is still talking about how extremely sweet and helpful Erica was. When she noticed that my wife spent the whole cocktail hour in conversation, she made her a tray of all of the food and put it in the bridal suite to make sure that she ate before we were announced at the reception. She frequently checked in on her to make sure she was eating and to see if there was anything she needed help with. She also checked in on our parents and the girls in the bridal party. She packed up a bag of food and desserts for my wife too. My wife said that Erica felt more like family than staff.
When we first saw the elegance of the Mansion we knew it was where we wanted to get married. It was by far the best place we had seen and yet less expensive than other places we had looked at. Our only slight reservation was that it's on a golf course, and we were concerned that golfers would be in close proximity to our outdoor wedding ceremony. However, everything else was so perfect that we decided not to let that deter us. We definitely made the right decision. If you're worried about the golfers, don't be - you won't even notice them.
One more thing about the food: not only is it amazing, but there is a huge selection - you get to choose from about 60 different hors d’oeuvres, 20 hot cocktail stations, and about eight options each for the meat, poultry and fish entrees. You can mix and match from some of the hot cocktail stations so there is really an almost endless number of choices.
We love this place so much we plan on coming back for any other events we may have in the future. If you're looking for a classy, elegant wedding experience, this is your place.
Thanks again to Gary, Emily, Luis, and Erica for a wonderful event! You exceeded our...
Read moreMy wife and I got married at the woodlands on April 20th. 2013. We were promised the world and then some. Unfortunately they did not deliver. When we first looked at the woodland last year we looked at other venues to host our special day. What made the woodland stand out to us and as per the event specialist is the exclusiveness of the woodlands. They brag about the supposed fact that you are the only venue that day, and it’s like you own the mansion. For that they charge you a premium in the price per plate.
When we got there, there were golfers walking inside the mansion all over the place. They were walking in between our photo shoots and inside the mansion. When a venue receives $25,000 for an event, you would figure they would post a sign for at least a week prior to our event specifying to use an alternative entrance. Apparently that was not the case. The golfers could have been directed around back; instead they were right in the middle of our photo shoots.
We were promised the fountain would be on, it wasn't
We were promised fresh flowers would be planted the morning before our event, not only were they not planted but there were workers scattered all over the ground while we were taking photos and during our wedding
We met with the Major D, general manager, and bridal attendant a few days prior to the event to drop off final payment. When we were there, we were so "Fortunate" to meet the owner of the woodlands. Who at that time stressed to the general manager at least 5 times to do something special for us as a gift from him for our wedding.....We were so happy when this happened we told all of our immediate family and close friends what the owner said. Long story short, nothing special was done, and all of the people we told, were asking us what did the owner do for you? It’s obvious he did nothing at all!!!!! I’m sorry, he showed up in his masaratti the day of our event. My wife and I should have been thrilled. The owner of the woodlands made an appearance at our wedding. WOW!!!!!!!
They had the nerve to try and sell future weddings and have complete strangers walk in on my wife in the bridal suite. This is the lowest of low....have them come another day. Oh and they also came walking through our photos as well.
We were not given the choice of having our ceremony outside or inside, we were simply informed that they set it up inside. It was over 60 degrees at the time. Ceremony lasted 30 minutes. I think our guests could have endured the harsh weather for 30 minutes. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the workers scattered outside.
Food was good, no complaints there
It was the fact of all the promises that were made to us and not delivered on. We could have booked Woodbury country club, or crest hallow country club for a fraction of the price. Saved a ton of cash and better yet not been lied to like we were at the woodlands.
I would never recommend this place for anyone to have their wedding at. Just seems like they have no clue on how to host a wedding event. The worst part is you rely on them to tell you the truth, hence the reason you book an event for a once in a lifetime occurrence at a premium price. You don’t pay that kind of money to be lied to. I also called the woodlands and left a message last week. Still have not received a callback, but when there was a balance due they returned my...
Read moreMy daughter got married at the Mansion on 7/27/25. She and I are out of state (Virginia and Texas) so we planned the wedding long distance and did not have a wedding planner. I can't say enough good things about this venue! They were flawless from the moment we signed the contract until the end of the festivities. Jennifer was very professional and answered all of our questions timely. We never felt rushed and she knew what to ask even if we didn't. Communication was A+. They coordinated with our vendors (Batter Up - cake; The Hudson Project- band; Barittini - strings for ceremony, piano for cocktail hour, and DJ for afterparty; Flowers by Burton; JoVon Photography and Videography; Platinum Events (mirrored seating chart); and Long Island Flower Wall for arch and Reverend Dan) and everything ran so smoothly. Huge shout out to Carl (Carmelo) the Maître D and Shannon the bridal attendant. We dropped off all decor a few days before and they set up perfectly. When there was a problem with our flowers, Carl called and had the florist come back to fix it. He maintained the tempo of the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception (speeches, dances, props, cake cutting) and afterparty; everything was seamless. We interspersed dancing with dinner and all flowed so well. Shannon stayed by Kate's side, bustled her dress, helped her change into a second dress, attended to her every need all night and gathered items from the bridal suite. They were true professionals and packed everything neatly for the day after pick up. I could enjoy the evening without worrying about anything (timeline, bridal party, Kate's needs). It rained the day of the wedding and Carl allowed us time to make the call whether to move inside and handled the transition beautifully. All guests were impressed with the food and service. We had filet, chicken marsala and macadamia crusted cod for dinner and the grazing table, passed apps, Mulberry Street and Mediterranean stations for cocktail hour and bar foods for afterparty. I was amazed at how delicious the food was....its hard to feed so many people but everything they served was hot and cooked to guest's specifications. The bar was perfect, top shelf liquor and never a line! It had a lot to do with the level of service. Valet was great and when guests arrived they were given a pre-ceremony drink and directed to the guest book and ceremony site. When they left the ceremony for cocktail hour servers were ready with trays of signature drinks so there was not a line at the bar. Apps were passed on trays, lots of seating and beautiful stations. At dinner servers were excellent, they took orders, brought food, got drinks from the bar, poured red and white wine, cleared places, folded napkins if you got up and served cake. So many guests raved that this was the best wedding they ever attended. The venue itself is gorgeous but the service and food were exceptional. The after party on the roof (DJ, cigars) was scheduled to end at midnight but went much later. The overall experience far exceeded the price we paid. Kate and Michael said it was the best day of their lives. I am so thankful to all our friends at the Mansion and cannot recommend them enough. ...
