Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Town of Rib Mountain

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jersey Mike's Subs, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff, which immediately set a positive tone for my visit. The atmosphere was clean and inviting, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal.

The menu at Jersey Mike's is impressive, offering a wide variety of subs to choose from. I decided to try the #13 Original Italian, and it did not disappoint. The bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, the meats and cheeses were of high quality, and the toppings were crisp and flavorful. What truly stood out was the "Mike's Way" option, which added a delicious blend of onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil, and spices that elevated the sub to the next level.

The sub itself was decent, but the layout and wait times were not so great. I would come back, but it wouldn't be my first choice. We ordered two hot subs and one cold-cut sub. The cold-cut sub was ready in a few minutes, but it took us 20 minutes of waiting for the hot subs. We were at the front of the line too, so it wasn't like we were waiting on too many orders ahead of us. At first they just came out with one hot sub to complete the order, and I had to remind them I ordered two hot subs. Not sure why the six workers in the back couldn't manage to make two subs in a relatively reasonable amount of time.

The layout of the restaurant was also backwards. It should have been left to right to order and check out, but instead the checkout was at the front of the store, and we had to walk around back past the tables of people eating to reach the ordering counter, and then awkwardly wait near the door while people kept pushing past to get in.

Also, I understand one of their gimmicks is the deli meat is sliced fresh in front of you. But watching the sandwich guy constantly take the same block of cheese off the cutter, then going to the same block of ham, and then back to the cheese again and back to the same ham - why not just have a bunch of meat already cut up...

As someone with celiac disease, finding a restaurant that truly understands gluten-free safety is rare, but Mark at the Jersey Mike’s in Wausau knocked it out of the park!! From the moment I mentioned I had celiac, he went above and beyond to make sure every step was handled with care—not just the meat, but every condiment, surface, and tool used to avoid cross-contamination. I’ve been to this location before and there wasn’t always care about the condiments, so I was loving that he got them from the back!!
