I went to Ralph's to get my girlfriend an espresso bean signature sundae. The young woman working there left off almost all of the toppings, including the chocolate covered espresso beans, chocolate sauce, cookie crunchies, and coffee pieces. I did not notice this until I returned home and gave the sundae to my girlfriend. I returned to Ralph's about 15 minutes after I had left, to ask if I could please have a small cup of those toppings, which I had already paid for yet not received, to take back home and put on my girlfriend's sundae. The young woman told me she could not do that because they charge for cups of toppings. I pointed out that I already paid for them, I just didn't get them. She told me that she couldn't do that because then she would be on camera giving toppings away for free. She said I would have to wait and speak to a manager, who was supposedly on his way there and would be there "any minute" I stood there, in the store, waiting for 20 minutes. No sign of a manager. Then, I politely walked over and asked the woman if she could please call the manager on the phone so he could tell her how to resolve this situation. She said that no, she couldn't and that he was "on his way right now". I waited for another 30 minutes, and still no manager came, so I went home. I returned to Ralph's one hour after that, and found a manager, and he gave me some free toppings and apologized. It was at this point, having been staring at the menu while he was getting the toppings, that I asked how I had been charged $5.70 for a sundae that the menu said was $5 + tax. At this point, the manager and the woman who had originally served me both tried to assure me me that yes, $5 +8.625% sales tax is $5.70 (Its actually $5.43). I pointed this out and was then hurriedly told that no, actually he had made a mistake and the price on the menu was supposed to read $5.25. I asked how they could charge a higher price than was on the menu and he shrugged and pointed to where it says "prices subject to change". I then left, realizing I wasn't going to resolve any issue to my satisfaction. And I'm pretty sure "prices subject to change" isn't supposed to mean "subject to change between the time I read the menu, and the time...
Read moreBefore I explain why I gave this establishment zero stars, let me just say that I actually like everything about this place. My only issue was with the owner. So at this point, I would like to address the owner personally. I came in with my family on Sunday, May 26th. While waiting in line, you tried to walk past an elderly veteran proudly wearing his veteran hat for Memorial Day. You rudely yelled in his ear "excuse me." My family and his family looked at each other in great shock by the way you spoke to this American hero. I took it upon myself to address you because I don't like bullies. You told me that you noticed he was wearing hearing aids, which he may have needed from serving our country. I suggested that you could have spoken to him in a much kinder way and you seemed to take no responsibility at first. It was only when I told you to speak with him that you finally did. Then you attempted to try and tell me that you give generously to veterans, yet I noticed that after degrading this fine man, you still had the nerve to charge him and the fellow veteran he was with FULL PRICE. You should be ashamed of yourself. Even my young children said you could have at least given the poor guy the ice cream without charge. I only hope the owner of some other Ralphs is treating your dad in a kind and caring way when he is on line for...
Read moreLook, the kid behind the counter was very pleasant and helpful, salty sweet ice cream thing I got was pretty good but the last bite I took was all salt. But what really rubbed me the wrong way was that it's cash only and the kid didn't warn me until after he had made the icecream and my son was burried in his. To top it off the ATM charges $3. You ripped me off Ralph's Italian Ices Riverhead and I don't like it. While sitting there I looked for signage for this policy and found one single piece if day glow yellow paper that said cash only on a side window obstructed by the propped open doors. I should have just gotten some rocking baked goods from Blue...
