5/17/2024: We met our friend here for lunch. We've been coming here about 1x monthly, although our experiences have been inconsistent. I ordered a Kobe burger firmly requesting it be cooked med rare emphasizing more rare. (Always torn between the duck wrap and the Kobe burger, I decided on the latter.) My husband ordered the duck wrap. I NEVER send food back, regardless the circumstances. The burger was cooked medium WELL. It was dry and tasteless. The steak fries were re-done (not freshly cooked!). My husband sent his duck wrap back. It was served cold, dry and tasteless, and matched his steak fries. He ordered a Kobe burger instead; it was not as delicious nor cooked to his specification, but was better tasting than the wrap. We're disgusted with the downward decline we are presently experiencing. With today's ever increasing lunch costs (spending $100 for two, that includes soda, wine and beer), a patron should expect quality and taste to be delivered with pride and perfection. We never saw the manager's offer for a 'burger on us next time', and according to the website response, it appears to have been dated 4 years ago, but regardless, we will be looking for an alternate gastronomy experience in Riverhead moving forward. So very disappointing ... (BTW, our server, Claudia, could not have been more professional and accommodating; too bad she's not the 'chef'.)
What a difference a day makes ... This is an updated review from my previous review of approximately one month ago. Now that the Kobe beef reverted to their original purveyor, my husband was in awe of the burger he had today. Everything was perfect! The burger was cooked exactly to his liking!!! (Medium rare) He was in oral heaven with each morsel. I should have had my camera. The fries were crispy just as he ordered. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, as we had in the past, and there was absolutely no disappointment there!!! I ordered the duck wrap which was delectable beyond description! Our server was the same server we had a few weeks ago. She is absolutely professional; asks all the right questions and is very knowledgeable about their products. We can't wait to return!!! Thank you for offering us an opportunity to return. We could not have been...
Read moreThis place has been in a downward spiral for the last 3 years. I used to frequent this place often with my father in-law during our fishing trips a few times during the year, with my wife for special occasions or if we were near the area. This place is 60 miles from where we live, it was worth the travel, but out of no where things began to change. It first began with the increase in their spirit prices, for years, after the main course, I'd order the 15yr Pappy Van Winkle for about $40 or a little less, then with zero warning the price jumped to $120, I still remember the day the bartender gave me the check, I questioned him about the price increase and why he didn't let me know of the change, he said, it was an order not to mention it from the owner. Portion size decreased, but prices remained the same and certain dishes increased.
Our recent dining (12/28/2019) experience was a complete disappointment (wife Christmas gift) , after a year absent from visiting this location, I hoped thing would have changed a little, things got worse rather than better. I ordered the carpaccio and the bison kabobs, and my wife the blue claw crab cocktail. The carpaccio was composed of 5 ping pong size width of meat along a small dish, no shaved cheese, mix greens (garnish size) in the center, no olive oil or lemon juice. The Kabobs had zero seasoning, tasted nothing resembling a kabob flavor, plain beef, overcooked with kabob sauce as garnish. Wife's crab meat app consisted of crystal/glass salad mid deep, full of chopped iceberg lettuce with crab meat on the top as garnish, the amount of crab on that bed of lettuce could have fit in a tiny souffle cup. Main course I ordered the Wagyu Steak medium rare, came out rare (waitress took steak away, it came back reheated, not replace for a $56 steak), wife had the bison burger (medium), the outer edge of the patty was medium and the center raw.

Read moreDuring our stay in Riverhead for a wedding, we stumbled upon Tweed’s by accident. Although our hotel concierge suggested a few restaurants in another town, we decided to explore the local area instead. In our walk along the towns center, we came across Tweed’s, which immediately captivated us with its old-world charm and elegance.
Stepping into the restaurant felt like a journey back in time. With its chandeliers, grand mirrors, and a pianist providing the perfect backdrop of soft melodies, it was as if we had entered a classic saloon from a bygone era.
We chose to sit at the bar and enjoy cocktails while deciding on our next destination. Each of us picked a different drink. Two of our selections came from the summer cocktail menu.. the Spicy Margarita and the Mango Mojito, both of which were exceptionally tasty. The bartender, more of a mixologist, meticulously crafting each cocktail with great ease. She was also entertaining and attentive, sharing interesting details about the history of Tweed's.
As the evening progressed, the restaurant grew vibrant with the arrival of guests eager for a night of dining and music. We decided this would be the perfect spot to stay and enjoy a nice dinner with family and newfound friends.
The bartender carefully arranged the menus and asked us to open them simultaneously. To our delight, the menus were subtly backlit, highlighting each delectable option with a soft glow.
The menu offered a range of farm to table options, making it difficult to choose. We settled on oysters, French onion soup, Tweed's Salad, the bison burger, NY strip, and lobster ravioli. Each dish was fresh, delicious, and truly mouth-watering.
While you may have wanted more of a description of the food, I felt that this review should have been about the journey.
If you are ever in Riverhead, do not pass this gem! It's definitely one of the tops...
