This experience was hillarious. So...still on my no red meat diet. I stop in and in front of me is this Italian family (definitely from southern 🇮🇹 Italy). The whole dynamic of this family just bled Italian. It was awesome to watch them interact with one another. Reminded me of Europe! 🙂 So I can't order the chicken. Because it's fried. So I opted for the baked beans without pork (healthiest item on the menu in my opinion), macaroni looked fresh too.
So as I am moving through the line I see some fresh pickles. So I ask the young lady behind the counter can you add that to my order. She says...oh the pickles are free, just grab one. So I grab a half pickle...
I get to the counter...the girl charges me for a baked beans and a whole pickle. I ask...I thought you said they were free. She goes....no...we charge for them!!! 🤣🤣🤣
A little dumbfounded. I look at the receipt and low and behold I am charged for a whole pickle. So I go in and say. You realized you charged me for a whole pickle, and only gave me half. So she goes to give me the other half and I say "no thanks, it's ok no worries" So I go check on my motorcycle and I go back into eat and as I am sitting there chatting it up with some really cool Harley riders. The other girl who originally took my order comes out and says sir here's the other half of your pickle. 🤣🤣🤣 I say..."I didn't want the pickle it was the point!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I sat back after I left laughing to myself, and I thought...wait a minute...I know how that whole pickle debacle occurred. It was the young man behind the counter who had these young ladies so smitten they just got totally confused when I asked for the pickle in the first place. 🤣🤣🤣 You have to love young workers starting out with their first jobs....what a cool and funny experience.
Beans were awesome. 🫘🫘🫘 Other food smelled awesome. Thanks for the awesome experience Heid's team. It was a really cool experience!!!
All the best!
And to the guy in the middle of the photo in the white shirt. Nice chatting with you and your brother. And thank you for your service to this country!!!...
Read moreMy father in law has a couple connections to Heid's. He ate here as a loyal customer when the original owner was slinging hot dogs from a food cart. He also managed their business as their personal banker. So of course we had to come here to have a hot dog at this joint while we are visiting New York.
It's cool that this joint was established in 1917. We are eating at a landmark of Liverpool. Walking in the front, there's a huge menu board to check out. We all walked in and ordered. It is a little crowded in the ordering area. There's not a lot of space between the wall and the counter.
We ordered quite a few things. Of course we had to try everything. I really wanted to try the hot dogs but they gave veal in them. I just can't wrap my head around the veal. So, tonight I ordered the sausage with onions and peppers, onion rings and fries.
Everything was cooked right in front of us while we were waiting. Everything on the grill looked so good! We loaded up our trays with our goodies after it was all cooked and headed to the dining area.
I added some mustard and ketchup to my sausage. The onions and peppers were sautéed nicely. The sausage was tasty but dry. I ate about half and was over it. I didn't eat it with the roll, it was just too much. The onion rings were my favorite! I love the beer batter that they use. I dipped that onion ring in a side of cheese sauce, fantastic! The fries were good as well. And yes, they are even better dipped in cheese sauce. My husband smashed both of his chili and cheese dogs. He washed everything down with their chocolate milk. I had a sip of it and it's super chocolatey!
It was neat to eat here today. I got to see what my father in law was a part of when he was Heid's personal banker. And eat what he used to eat when he was young. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I really enjoyed the onion rings with the cheese sauce. If we ever make it back to New York, I'm pretty sure we will be here again. I'm looking...
