IHOP — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

I have been very patient and held off on this review but I can’t any longer. The Cook “No” or “Know” unsure of spelling its really terrible. I get he’s “new” but he has been there for a while now and hasn’t improved. Had to send back toast repeatedly on on numerous occasions for being burnt and hard and the next incident on another occasion my ham was burnt to a crisp and a following time my eggs were rubber and one side of my toast was raw and the other was so hard I couldn’t chew. This isn’t the IHOP food service I’m used to. I’ve never had so manny occurrences of food mishaps. Even with past “new” cooks. The SERVERS/WAIT STAFF ARE ALL VERY PLEASENT despite having to deal with food being sent back from all their customers at an alarming rate we are frequent customers but until the cook “No” or “know” is no longer cooking our food yesterday will be our last visit to this location. The food made me and my wife so terribly ill we ran to The bathroom all day after breakfast.first our eggs were overcooked and then undercooked and because of all the food being sent back from many of the tables there was long wait times for new customers that many walked out as the food being sent back multiple times back delays the wait times and affects the whole operation in the food industry. You can have a terrible wait staff and still make it in the food industry but when the food service is absolutely terrible no matter how great the wait staff is the restaurant is already set up for failure. I know that ownership of this location changed recently but if they continue to allow “no” or “know” to cook unfortunately this location doors will shutter. Im not saying fire the person “No” or “know” I get that the economy is tough right now and I don’t want to see him lose a job but maybe reassign him to somewhere besides the kitchen such as a server or hostess or bus boy. I’m so sad thinking about how great the food used to be. And pray it’ll return to that. I don’t want any coupons or refunds I just want the food service to become good again. Until then I will frequent candlelight...

Editing my review for a visit from Saturday July 27th. My family went for dinner as we typically don't, and everything was excellent again. Our waitress Emma was fantastic. My daughter and I had breakfast for dinner and my chocolate chocolate chip pancakes were phenomenal and her short stack were unbelievable and my husband got hamburger and a short stack. The service was excellent the food was delicious, the timing was perfect we had a great night all thanks to Emma and kudos to the chef!!!

Today Wednesday Juneteenth 2024, My husband and I went to the IHOP on Jericho turnpike and Commack for breakfast around 9:00. There was no wait although it was kind of busy because all the schools were closed for the holiday. Our waitress Alejandra was fantastic, great personality very friendly and sweet. She took our order everything came out exactly as expected by her assistant David. Everything we asked for after the food was delivered was brought to us right away with a smiling face and friendly personality. We had half orders of blueberry pancakes and chocolate chocolate chip pancakes. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant and if you could ask for Alejandra you will not be disappointed. Way to...

Though I have had many great experiences at this Ihop, I must unfortunately utilize this platform to express my dissatisfaction with my last few meals. The waitress did not provide waters for us after asking multiple times. When she finally came with the waters half way through our meal, she throws the straws on the table. I do not know if she felt this was acceptable because we are teenagers however, I personally work in the food service industry and I know for a fact thats unacceptable and every customer should be treated with an equal respect. Regardless, as we are paying, we receive our check with each meal marked down twice then the price halved. What is the purpose of that? We leave a $10 tip on a $95 meal between 6 people after collectively agreeing we were unhappy with the service. The manager runs out after us saying it was not enough and the waiter only makes $8 an hour. Well I make $7.50 an hour treating customers with respect. She hassles us down in the parking lot and we pay her more. Tips do not go by the "recommended amount" if the service is not on par. This will definitely be the last time...
