I had perhaps the best chicken in my life when I went here in 2004. 13 years later I made it back anticipating the same experience. Needless to say, the bar remains unchanged, however the food is nothing special at all. I'm a huge Jamaican Jerk fan, so it would take some effort to get me to not like jerk chicken. They did just that. I'll set the stage for better understanding. July 3rd, 2017, I showed up with a friend around 1:35pm. Thinking that the lunch rush had subsided, we sat outside at a table and took in the scenery of the Mississippi and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. After 20 minutes I finally got up and asked a wait person if someone could help us at the table. We ordered drinks, a Jerk Chicken Quesadilla - 13.95 and a Jerk Chicken Dinner - 13.75. The wait for the food was what seemed to be endless. We had another drink while waiting and since the staff was overwhelmed, we went into the bar and was charged more for the same drink than we did from the waitress ... did we pay for the beautiful bar ambiance? Guess so. Another family that had sat about 10 minutes after us, got up and left after an hour and 30 minutes. We were close behind, but seeing that we were going to leave the waitress asked us to wait another 15 minutes for our meal. The food arrived in less than 10 and we immediately dug in. The quesadilla was ok, but the chicken inside was bland. The chicken breast was dry and totally lacked flavor. The rice and beans were terribly dry and also flavorless. The only saving grace was the jerk flavor served in a small paper cup on the side that was good, but not wonderful like I remembered it years ago. All in all, nothing to write home about. I've made better Jerk at home and for far less money. So in the end, we waited 98 minutes for a meal that was not worth waiting 20 for. Perhaps the staff had an off day, I'm not sure, but for what its worth, I wouldn't waste my time with the food. Have a beer, enjoy the view and...
Read moreVisited for the Blues Festival and had a really fun time! Lynn and I both thought the vibe reminded us of various places we visited in Florida. The vibe was southern hospitality and very chill. The staff were friendly and efficient even though it was obvious they were working very hard.
Great outdoor seating areas! Plural, because there was more than one area. Lots of picnic tables with umbrellas spread over the grounds, and comfortable lawn chairs.
The drinks were inexpensive, and the variety was solid. We ate before arriving, so we didn't try the food truck, but lots of people seemed to be enjoying the Jamaican/Caribbean menu featuring several "jerk" options. We will be going back and trying the food another time.
The bands were solid. Though, they need to be more clear on the website about the actual playing times. We arrived at 6 hoping to see the end of one band and the beginning of another. We did see the last set of the one band, but the next band did not start playing until 9:15. The website said 8 for that last band, so they could provide more accurate info. Maybe that sounds picky, but if we had arrived at 8 for only the last band, we probably would have left by 9 disappointed. But we stayed through the LONG changeover and finally enjoyed Big Mike Retro Soul and the Westside Horns. They were fun and had several very talented members, including a really good sax player.
Overall, we had a nice time, and we were both surprised that it was not more crowded. It was not a fancy or elegant place, but that wasn't what we were expecting. It was a roadside bar with a really charming vibe that we will be...

We called prior to coming in with our group. When we arrived, no one came to the table to take our drink order. We waited for 15 minutes and then approached the bar to see what would be easiest for them to take our orders.
We eventually ordered and waited 2 hours!!! for subpar, cold food, and one of our group never received his meal. We relayed our disappointment and were told that we ordered different things from the menu and they were busy? Huh? Isn't that what you do at a restaurant? Chose your entree from your menu?
We could understand "busy" but no one let us know they were short on help, or even greeted us when we sat down. No "hey, thanks for your patience." No updates after the first hour we sat waiting.
Two hours to wait for cold food? We had a table of 13.
The waitstaff was incredibly rude (an understatement) after we talked to them about our disappointment.
A little communication goes along way--we received attitudes, walked away hungry, and, ultimately, had a terrible...
