I'll give two premises for this review. One I'd spent a couple of hours at the mall before dining at this p.f Chang's and that does not put me in a good mood admittedly. Two, I've been going to PF Chang's for around 15 to 20 years. My first visits were to a location in Virginia, I'm sorry I don't remember where It was somewhat near Fairfax I think.
Once upon a Time they were fantastic! It was like upgraded takeout food and a nicer setting. Today not so much.
We had reservations for 5:30 and we were all there on time although we did have to wait but it was only about 15 minutes. Several of us had to use the bathroom during the visit and all commented on how disgustingly dirty they were and not just dirty but like run down like the locks didn't lock, paint is chipped and the last paint job was poorly done. Just relatively low level complicated stuff but it adds up.
So our server was very nice even if she was not very skilled. She took our drink orders and then our food orders in a fairly decent time probably within 15 minutes she had done both and delivered our drinks.
This is where the problems began as my wife and I had ordered the three course meal for two which includes soup or salad an appetizer and then two entrees. Pri ewise it ended up coming to about $55 as we chose a few of the more premium options which there was an up charge for. The other three people at the party just ordered regular entrees. It took about 50 minutes for our food to start coming out and It only happened once I had to flag down our waitress and asked for an update on why we hadn't got anything yet.
Having been a server myself I highly suspect she had forgotten to submit or didn't fully submit in their system our order. The next sad thing was they started with the appetizer instead of the soup and salad which was weird. They brought the soup and salad moments later. So it wasn't properly paced.
The chicken wraps are maybe half chicken half water chestnut which sucks cuz that wasn't how it was years ago. They no longer make the sauce at your table which is fine though it was appreciated when they did it. The Mongolian beef was good but the steak was decidedly thinner and not as good of a cut as I recall from years ago. Lastly and I always forget this as we don't regularly to PF Chang's they seem to have the same sauce for their honey chicken as their orange chicken as the honey chicken always comes with a very distinctive orange taste. I've had honey chicken and it tastes significantly different than orange chicken but it being a chain restaurant I believe they just use the same sauce for both, so that was a disappointment. I always get excited to see honey chicken on their menu and then once it comes and it tastes like orange chicken my memory clicks and I'm like oh fuck yeah I forgot The PF Chang's uses the same sauce.
We were at the mall today celebrating my daughter's fourth birthday doing Build-A-Bear in Lego store stuff like that and so they did bring her a free dessert which was very considerate and appreciated it even had a crazy firework sparkler thing in it and she loved it.
When the bill came I opened it up to see that not only have they charged us for the complimentary dessert they had charged us full price for everything in the three course meal. They had overcharged us by around $50 and I had to flag down the waitress again and break this all down again and my suspicious nature tells me it was done intentionally to garner a larger tip. Now that is not proven in any way shape or form and maybe she just makes a lot of mistakes?
Eventually it was cleared up and the bill was paid and we left all in all We were there for two and a half hours!
PF Chang's you were once great and I still love your giant horses but my gosh man how far are you...
Read moreGetting sick was the final straw. I travel for work a lot so I go to PF Changs in other cities and never have a problem. Last few times at this location I've had nothing but issues. To start, we were sat over 20 minutes after our reservation (it would've been longer if we didn't sit at a hightop). Kitchen was backed up, so the service was slow and my food came out cold. My soup came out after my chicken and rice (annoying but oh well big deal). A few hours after eating there, I got home and was very sick. I had to go to bed because I couldn't deal with it. I then woke up again in the middle of the night still sick. Not realizing I had gotten sick from the chicken and rice, the next night (last night) I had only a few bites of my leftovers. I woke up at 4 am paying for it and am still paying for it this morning. My stomach is killing me. I don't have any food allergies, and just ordered this same meal at a location in another state less than a month ago and was perfectly fine.
The last few times I ordered takeout from here it was also very annoying. No one was working the takeout desk, so I had to walk into the restaurant, flag down a worker, to check the kitchen for my food multiple times, just for them to grab it from the counter it had been sitting on for a long time, way after the scheduled pickup time. The food you get from pickup is also very different. The chicken is much greasier, and the noodles are practically plain noodles with nothing on them.
My wife has celiac, so she used to love Changs because of how safe they were with food allergies. About 2 years ago however she was served a non gluten free dish here and not realizing it was not gluten free she ate it. She got very very sick. It was awful. However when we went to a PF Changs in another state a few weeks ago she was completely fine and really enjoyed her meal, so she wanted to give the location in our hometown one last try. Funny enough I got sick this time.
Coincidentally I was recently talking to a friend about the trip I was on and without me saying anything bad about the location here, he started saying how he wished this location was still good and that he and other people he knows have had similar experiences the last few times they've went.
Just really disappointing. Definitely won't be back to...
Read moreCalled to make sure they were open until 10pm. Girl who answered the phone said, "I dunno." Followed by silence. So I asked if she could maybe check with someone. She sighed, came back and said, "Yeah." I asked if I needed a reservation, she said no. I said, "OK thank you so much." And she just hung up on me. Arrived at 8:20pm, no hostess was at the front. Bar back just kind of stared at us until I asked if there was a hostess. She said she'd look. We waited 20 minutes for her to show up. When she finally came up, she grabbed 2 menus and just started walking. No greeting, no apology. Threw the menus on the table and just walked away. Didn't acknowledge the fact that I thanked her. Our waitress was nice enough but we waited 30 minutes for soup? Only to be told that they didn't have hot and sour soup and asked if we wanted an alternative. My mother ordered the wonton soup and it took another 25 minutes to come out. When the waitress brought it out she told my mother she had to fight with the kitchen to get it and was sorry for the wait? How hard is it to put soup in a bowl? My rice was crunchy, and our waitress offered to get me more, AFTER I was done eating my chicken. I would have been able to tell her about it sooner had she ever checked on us. We asked for a to-go box and after she brought that, she immediately started sweeping up the area around us which was very off-putting since it wasn't even time to close yet. Then the hostess came over and sat down on her phone and started chit-chatting with our waitress while she was sweeping. Meanwhile we're waiting for a check for another 20 minutes. So I had to interrupt their conversation and ask for the check and the hostess rolled her eyes at me, flipped her hair and walked off. After arriving home, my stomach hurt so bad I couldn't stand. This was Friday night. It is now Sunday and I haven't been able to leave the bathroom in almost 2 full days. I will never eat here again. The way we were treated was horrible. This used to be our favorite place....
