Okay need to fix their fries they are not good cook longer maybe?. McDonald's: A Global Phenomenon
McDonald's is more than just a fast-food restaurant; it is a global phenomenon that has had a profound impact on the way we eat, the way we work, and the way we interact with the world around us. From its humble beginnings as a single burger stand in San Bernardino, California, to its current status as the world's largest fast-food chain, McDonald's has come to symbolize the rise of the fast-food industry and the spread of American culture around the globe.
In this essay, we will explore the history of McDonald's, its business model and marketing strategies, its impact on society and the environment, and the controversies and challenges it has faced over the years. We will also examine how McDonald's has evolved over time to stay relevant in an ever-changing world, and what the future may hold for this iconic brand.
The History of McDonald's
McDonald's was founded in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald. The brothers started out with a small barbecue restaurant in San Bernardino, California, but soon realized that their most popular items were hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes. In 1948, they closed their original restaurant and reopened as a self-service drive-in restaurant with a streamlined menu focused on these items.
The McDonald brothers' innovative approach to food service, which included a focus on speed, consistency, and affordability, quickly caught the attention of businessman Ray Kroc. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' operation and saw the potential for a national franchise. In 1955, he founded the McDonald's Corporation and began franchising the McDonald's concept across the United States.
The success of McDonald's was driven by several key factors. One was its focus on standardization and consistency. Every McDonald's restaurant, whether in California or New York, served the same menu items prepared the same way. This ensured that customers knew what to expect when they visited a McDonald's, regardless of where they were.
Another factor was McDonald's' emphasis on speed and convenience. The company pioneered the use of assembly-line techniques in food preparation, which allowed it to serve food quickly and efficiently. This was a major selling point for customers looking for a quick meal on the go.
McDonald's also revolutionized the fast-food industry with its marketing strategies. The company was an early adopter of television advertising and used catchy jingles and memorable characters like Ronald McDonald to create a strong brand identity. McDonald's also targeted children with its marketing, offering toys and playgrounds to attract young customers and their families.
By the 1970s, McDonald's had become a global phenomenon, with restaurants in countries around the world. The company continued to expand rapidly, opening new restaurants and introducing new menu items to cater to changing tastes and preferences.
McDonald's Business Model and Marketing Strategies
McDonald's business model is based on franchising, with the majority of its restaurants owned and operated by independent franchisees. Franchisees pay an initial fee and ongoing royalties to McDonald's in exchange for the right to operate a McDonald's restaurant and use its brand name, trademarks, and operating system.
This franchising model has been a key driver of McDonald's growth, allowing the company to rapidly expand its presence around the world without the need for significant capital investment. Today, McDonald's has over 38,000 restaurants in over 100 countries, making it the largest fast-food chain...
Read moreSorry to say since I DO enjoy McDonalds but the wait at the drive thru on my side was almost 6 minutes. I got tired of waiting and watching the other side of the drive thru going forward I decided to go to the pay window and place my simple meal order of two hamburgers/drink and apple pie to save time. Girl at window seemed confused and unhappy. I apologized and asked her if the drive thru on my side was working and she said yes. She took my order, I moved forward and was handed my drink and there would be a wait for the pie and hamburgers. Not wanting to hold the line up I pulled to the side and walked in. As I waited, a Huge bag of fries and food was called out for some waiting customer but they never showed and it sat there on the counter. A woman from the play area came up and frantically asked where HER order was since her kids were driving her nuts. I told her to take the unclaimed order sitting in the counter since no one knew where HER Oder was. A total fiasco and clearly a problem with the help and communication between them. Finally got my order, opened the wrapper and have to say I’ve fed food to an animal in better condition than the hamburgers I received. No doubt, this location needs a reset from management down. Sooner than later since previous reviews mirrored my recent experience. In the meantime I suggest smiles and apologies to those who wait and whoever completes the actual food order in the back slow down regardless of time and prepare the food as if he or she were about to eat it themselves! I’m a contractor who is not picky and eats food on the run but I had to respond to help a fast food restaurant I usually enjoy review their operations and repair their customer service. I’m hoping this was a one time bad experience but previous reviews tell me different. Remember…..you only get one chance to make a...

On Sat. night , Aug 28 at 9:35 I pulled in even though all the lights were off. The sign, the dining room lights, lights on the building, and ALL of the outside lights, parking lot, everything, all completely off. As I rounded the back of the building I noticed the drive thru menu boards were still lit. I stopped just to see if I could see any hours posted and a voice came over the speaker asking me for my order. I ordered, went to the window and mentioned to the guy that I was certain the place was closed as every light was off. He said they trying to discourage customers as they are short staffed and were trying to start nightly closing tasks. I asked what time they closed and he said 11pm, which was nearly 90 minutes later than when I ordered.
The food was as expected except for the fry's which appeared to have been made in bulk at some point well before my arrival. They were absolutely ice cold and had the brown tint and slight after taste when the grease hasn't been changed anytime recently.
I can only imagine if I was the owner(s) and discovered that my staff was pretty much doing everything they could to actually discourage business. I realize this job is one of the most thankless in the world...I know I worked in such a thankless job when I worked at Ponderosa years ago, which is basically fast food with low quality meats and the like.
Yes when going to a fast food restaurant having high expectations is more of a shame on yourself, so you know what to expect. I really did not expect to drive into what looked obviously like a closed McDonald's only to find them open and actively discouraging customers. Sorry I didn't have anything overly positive to say as I try to find something.. anything.. good to say when I...
