We went to Shelter last night for our first visit. Despite the heat outside the place had a fairly decent number of patrons inside. Although it was slightly cooler inside than out, the huge clay/stone oven kept this place just a tiny bit above uncomfortably hot. Luckily the couple seated near us was leaving and turned a box fan (that someone had placed on the floor) to face us. I don’t know if I could have stayed if we didn’t have that fan. I’m so thankful to that couple!! 🙏🙏🙏 Anyway… the service was slow. By the time we ordered drinks, after sitting for almost 10 minutes we were ready to order food, but the waitress said she was only taking drink orders at that time 😬 after another 11 minutes our drinks arrived and we ordered our food… 40 minutes into our visit, we finally had appetizers on our table… but our water glasses and cocktails were empty… you get the idea… The food was tasty… but highly overpriced for the quality and portion. I got the “catch of the day”. For $37 I got one piece of fish, and a side of green beans. My boyfriend got empanadas. He said they were tasty… but they were small and overcooked. His son got the eggplant dish that he described as delicious! My favorite part of the meal was the watermelon salad! So unfortunately because of the high prices, uncomfortable temps, and extremely slow service, I will not be going back to the Shelter.

A Hidden Gem in Woodstock! Shelter Woodstock is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The vibe is cozy, welcoming, and effortlessly cool — like a rustic cabin meets modern charm. Now, let’s talk about the food — absolutely incredible. Every dish is thoughtfully crafted, bursting with flavor, and made with the kind of care you can taste in every bite. Whether you’re there for brunch, dinner, or drinks, you’re in for something special. I still can’t stop thinking about, Short Ribs is my favorite and my kid love the burger! What truly sets Shelter apart, though, is the people. The staff are not just attentive — they’re passionate, kind, and genuinely love what they do. You can feel the heart behind this place, and it’s contagious. If you’re in Woodstock and looking for a place that has it all — amazing food, great people, and a soul — Shelter is it. Don’t miss out. This place is something special

No bueno. We took a quick trip to Woodstock hoping for a nice meal and found this place. Based upon the reviews I thought it would be good, but it wasn't good. Hostess/waiter was unresponsive and unfriendly....no greeting upon entry...took forever just to order something and the place was basically empty. Poor consideration for the patrons. Our meal had two blatant mistakes and there was hardly even an apology... apart from a slight muttering. Overall, the service and food were weak. Meat was poor quality and cooked until it had a rubber texture. This place wasn't absolutely horrible, but it wasn't even close to great. It was very "meh"... leaning on "nay!" If you're passing through, it may be best to simply pass on by this place and look for another. This was not authentic Argentine food. Believe me, after living in Buenos Aires for a decade, this place is anything but authentic. And for what we paid, the value certainly didn't match. Way overpriced for this so-so quality food.

Don't eat here. One of the worse dining experiences i ever had.

I wanted to eat here because it advertised a smash burger.

My friend couldn't decide between two different pizzas or French Toast. She discussed the waitress who had only recently started working there. She finally decided on a pizza with bacon, Brussel sprouts and caramelized onions. She asked for the bacon to be crispy. When the pizza arrived the bacon was not crispy and sent it back. We could not see the caramelized onions (we were told it was under the cheese) and there were few Brussel sprouts. When we next got the pizza back the bacon was crisp but by that time unappetizing. We decided not to trust any alternatives and the cost of the pizza was removed from the check.

I like smash burgers because of the crispy crust. This one was was so dry I removed it from the bun. I asked if I could replace the fries with smashed potatoes, they were listed as the same price and the waitress complied with no additional cost.

The worse part were the ice tea drinks. They were $10 apiece. We were asked if we would like refills and answered yes. Turns out there are no free refills so the ice drinks cost us $40 and with the burger a total of $60. I left an 18% tip.

I should have asked to speak to the manager but unfortunately for me that is not my style. But it is to...

Was so excited to try the food my girlfriend waited months for me to join all I kept hearing was about the smash burger she was dying to try well long story short the menu was not very broad and overpriced. So we continued to take in the 76 degrees of internal atmosphere vibes and got some apps before we tried the burger she was talking about for 2mos. Marinated olives with no bread to absorb the heavy coat of oil and some zucchini fritters 2 bites into the fritter and she pulled a hair out of her mouth they quickly confiscated the app and then we got our food the buns were burnt in one spot and their was more romaine than burger I didn't even take a bite after I saw her face full of disappointment the owner swiftly came over and removed everything from the table and we proceeded to leave paying nothing with hungry bellies and disappointment in our spirit I will never attempt to try the place again besides the establishment had only a few other patrons and the couple beside us were first timers as well and also highly dissatisfied with their experience as well however the gentleman did say the pizza was good and the owner told me she was scared I wouldn't like that either and I didn't even bite my food after i saw the experience my girl had ..wish them well but such a wasted time...
