Hi BonChon,
I am glad that there is someone monitoring the comments. I have been an advocate for Bonchon for over a decade and have been saying we needed one in Towson, it would get great business, there is a demand for it here. EC is too far away. However, I have been hesitant to come, seeing the terrible reviews. But look, it takes time to train a staff to perfect the customer service and food quality we all have come to love. I finally took the shot, and it was as I expected. Not worthy of the Bonchon name. The meat was not well flavored, the sides were sloppy and inconsistently placed in containers. The fried rice was hard and stuck together... like it was terribly made and reheated from the fridge. Like, good fried rice needs day old rice, this was like week old rice...
I'm not here to jump on the hate train, nor am I looking for a default comment that says "I'm sorry for your experience, we will do better, Thanks for the feedback" because the bad reviews have been coming for over a year.
I am looking for a constructive reply with what this branch plans to do to step up it's game. In the long run, I want you to succed. I want Bonchon that is local to me. I want to come regularly. But at this point, I am not upset with the poor food I received, I was expecting it. I am disappointed that the good BonChon Franchise Name is being dragged through the mud. I am ashamed to recommend you, as I always have. Not if your franchisee's are not consistent with your EC location...which is, and has always been perfection. Consistently... for over a decade.
Please let me know what steps you will be taking in your reply.
Update 11/8/21 edit: nope, you gave me the same default reply. That means no one actually cared or read the review. Just auto answered. That makes your brand or branch even less genuine. I have lost all confidence.
Update 11/10/21 edit: I received a call from the GM who is new. He expressed some of the challenges and his plans to work on this location's improvement. I am satisfied with the response and look forward to an upward trend in reviews over time.
Update 10/28/22
Much improvement. Got rid of non-bonchon style wings. Still doesn’t have ec taste but still better...
Read moreI was a bit hesitant to order from this Bonchon so soon after opening as there were many poor reviews during the grand opening. At the same time, you always have to expect some hiccups at a new restaurant. So after seeing the reviews start to improve, and noticing that the owner has been replying to all of the comments, I decided to give it a go, and my overall experience was pretty good!
There was one issue - our order was actually ready 20 mins before our curbside pickup time, and we rushed over and waited for about 10 mins after the pickup time. It didn't seem like anyone was going to bring our order out (the restaurant was empty except for staff) so I went inside to ask for our order and they said the system showed that it wasn't ready, but our order had been sitting waiting to be picked up for at least a half hour. The man who handed me our order apologized profusely for the mix-up and I told him it was okay, though next time I will just do a regular pick-up instead of curbside order.
Our food had cooled off a bit since it was sitting awhile, but overall everything was made fine and tasted fantastic. We got the soy garlic wings, the street corn, the mac and kimcheese, and the seasoned fries. I absolutely loved everything except the fries did get soggy from sitting - I think next time I will only get those if I'm ordering in. I hope the street corn and mac and kimcheese remain as regular menu items because I absolutely loved both! The amount of sauce on the chicken was okay for me, but I can kind of see how other people felt it was not enough. I think the chicken I've had at other Bonchons had more sauce, but in the end the chicken was still extremely crunchy and delicious and I can't complain!
This place will definitely be my go-to in the future when I'm craving chicken. I think that it won't be long until I can give it 5 stars and I really appreciate that they're doing their best to smooth out any issues they've had with the opening. I'm already craving a...
Read moreStopped in with family after an athletic event. Have been to the Bonchon in Reston, so was looking forward to trying this one. Worst decision ever. We got there and it wasn't that busy. The family in front of us ordered, and then we placed an order for Bulgogi Fries, 10 wings, and large Korean Street Corn. We were told by the server, Shaniyah, that they were out of the cole slaw and the pickled radish that came with the dishes, and if we wanted any other sides, we would have to pay for them. I asked whether we could get a discount since we were paying full price and not getting sides. "No". We paid and I asked for a receipt. Shaniyah took the receipt with the QR code to provide feedback and hid that. We then waited... and waited...and waited. Whenever I tried to go up to the counter to ask for an update, Shaniyah would turn away and play on her phone. She had Airpods in so it took some time to finally get her attention. After 22 minutes I asked for an update. She went into the back, and came back and let me know they were starting on the fries and the corn and weren't sure if they still had the spicy mayo sauce. At that point, we were at 25 minutes, and just asked for a refund. The family in front of us was still waiting for their food as well.
The music was loud and was mostly FM radio full of commercials.
Some tables had food sitting on them left by former guests.
I know it's easy for the owners or Management to just say "it's tough to find good help," but we went over to Panera, ordered, and had our food in under 4 minutes.
If you're out of sides, give a discount or offer other sides at a discount. Or make more sides.
If you've got someone waiting for more than 10 minutes, offer a free drink or two.
If you have time to sit and play on your phone, go clean the tables.
Super, super...
