My husband has loved the Thursday burgers for years & told a friend who is coming this evening all about them. Aware that there are limited numbers, I called at 9 am & told the person I spoke with that I’d like to make sure I get 3 for today. I was told to go online and order at 10 …. Trying every 10 min until the option finally appeared at 11:01 am, I successfully placed my order I left work early to retrieve my burgers before closing time and alas, received a phone call telling me that theee had been some miscommunication and there were 3 less available burgers, so sorry - none for me. Of course there are larger problems in life, but I retold this fellow that I had spoken with someone at 9 am… etc. reply was just sorry…. I said, I left work early!….10 min later I received a text…your order is ready. So another phone call….. no that was an error. I told the gal, I just don’t understand the aura of mystery created around these burgers, it’s like trying to get a table at the French Laundry for heavens sake. Well no more burger lottery for this gal, my husband would have to beg.
Update: I just received a very nice phone call from the owner Neil, whose wife and business partner will be phoning me tomorrow & mailing out a gift card. He understood my frustration, offered sincere apologies on behalf of both himself and his wife. He wished his staff had given him a chance to rectify the situation earlier, and he also understands the problem of limited availability and plans to increase their supply orders to meet a higher demand. So rather than delete my review, I thought it best to edit and add this most polite and kind reaction on the owners’ part, I was very impressed and must publicly revoke my impassioned vow to never return. We are indeed all human! And …..My husband can rest easy. Thank you Neil,...
Read moreGetting there was a bit crammed and busy. As there’s a little entryway. My boyfriend and I moved a couple times to be out of anyone’s way as we were deciding on what to get.
Eventually ended up going closer to the back corner, since there were so many people coming in and out.
We were both confused if they served food as well with only seeing the coffee menu only being visible, until we saw a pile of paper menus behind us when we were at the front.
Eventually we ordered I got the top cured salmon rosti and my boyfriend got the tcp sandwhich. As for our coffees he got the vanilla latte and I ended up getting a cortado with mocha.
The food was great, the salmon rosti had. Nice crunchy potatoe hash with carmelize onions on the bottom of the skillet which complimented the whole dish so well, good if you’re looking to eat something small.
My boyfriend said his sandwich was flavorful, we shared the chips they had on the side with his order.
A bit salty but still good, had a touch of vinegar, such a good crunch when we take a bite out of it, def have to try it with ketchup so good.
Coffee was rich in flavor
The only thing i have to point out is the little space there is in between tables and having to maneuver around without bumping into anyone. As for the servers as well as they were getting everyone their orders, and giving ours having to place everything in our small table.
Other than that def a place I would go to again, couldn’t help but see what everyone else got since it...
Read moreBad service. I ordered 2 sandwiches. They did not put cheese on them and eggs were running instead of cooked well as I asked. The manager was going to fix it, but I was frustrated and got the refund and went to my truck. I went back in after a few minutes to speak with mgr b/c he was trying to help. I asked for the remake and wrote down specifically what I wanted. The cook/owner insulted me by saying I needed to go across the street to Pepe's if I wanted the eggs cooked well with broken yolk. He agreed to cook the egg so it wasn't runny. But I asked the mgr why the owner did a veiled insult, and he tried to clean it up so as to keep me calm, but I could see that he also realized the chef/ owner was insulting. Then the Lady who I assume was also an owner or wife to the che came over and said they can't make my food. I told her the cook and mgr already said they would and she went round the restaurant and outside to tell the mgr they weren't going to serve me. She told the cook not to make the food, and she told me they have standards of how they make their food. I seldom claim racism, but this wreaks of it. This business has mainly white people in and affluent area as customers. I am black and in a workman's uniform. I was not loud, did not use any profanity, but because I was upset and how my food was made, the Lady used that as an excuse to refuse me service. Racism is difficult to point out as it's often subtle. But you know when you...
