Happily surprised by this spot just beyond my usual parts of the city. I’ve gone out of my way for pickup, take out, and to dine in at Sushi Hana. The price value, while not cheap, is the most effective I’ve found in the city cause you get solid portions of fresh, quality fish that is handled with delicate care. They have a few creative, non traditional rolls that my partner enjoys. I usually only get sashimi or the chirashi. When we dine in, I’ll check if they have any specials like ankimo Inside it feels like most staged sushi houses. There’s a particular type of decor and glassy feel to the interior. Everything is always clean and comfortable. My only complaint is I wish the house salad dressing had a stronger base of soy/ginger and a little less orange/sesame oil.

I love this place. I come here every week and always have the best experience. All the workers know be by my name and always put thought into the food they make for me. I think the vibes in the place are great the service was amazing! There is a beaut fish tank along with amazing decorations that make the place homey. It is a mom and pop type of restaurant so you grow close with the people. They are all so kind and I would recommend this food to anyone who loves sushi. The sushi is the best i’ve ever had and would eat it everyday if i could.

There is so much to say about a great place like this! I wish I could give it more stars if possible! I ordered the chicken fried rice and wow it was the best I’ve ever had, i crave it all the time now. For the price ($14) you get a lot. Everyone here is so nice and Ive never had a bad encounter with any of them and Ive been coming here with my family for so long. I love this place and recommend it to all my friends. I have also had all my birthday dinners here and they are so nice to me!

Lousy service, thus the three stars. Food was okay, nothing new, nothing to be excited about (which gave them the third star). I ordered the sukiyaki; it was below expectations. I guess the disappointment stemmed from the fact that I was hankering for a good, hot bowl of sukiyaki. The makis (combination rolls) were okay, I've had better. My wife had the chicken udon, it was good, huge serving; that saved the day.

Service was curt and unfriendly, quite atypical of Japanese restaurants. We came in late, so I'm wondering if that something to do with it; I'm bit making an excuse for them. There was only one other table occupied at the time. We were standing at the front desk for about a couple of minutes already, but the lady receptionist/server looked like she was busy texting. The guy behind the sushi bar called her attention three times before she looked at us. She approached and pointed to a table and said, "There," and left. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and when I came back, there was only one menu on our table, despite the fact that I said table for two when we came in. She came back after a bit and I placed our orders. But before I was even done ordering, the lady began pulling the menu from me. I had to say, "Wait I'm not yet done." She bordered on the rude. It wasn't the kind of service I was expecting. The rest of the meal was uneventful.

People will go to a restaurant for its food. Most will come back because of good service. I wonder how they got...

Updating, September 2024: One last disappointing meal before we cut loose an old favorite - portions have gone down, overcooking is intense (take a look at our dynamite roll and how scorched it was), and toppings (fish, avocado, and roe) are absolutely scarce now, even on the expensive $16 rolls. Super disappointed in the takeout that we just picked up - everything is tiny compared to how it has been in the past, and we found multiple scales in the Beauty Alaska roll.

Original: Though Sushi Hana has been a mainstay for years, their food quality has been very hit or miss. I've never gotten sick on the food, but I have several times found scales on my fish, and I haven't been happy with how to-go orders are packaged - particularly when there are rolls with sauce or that have expressed oil, as it gets on the other food and saturates the rice in other rolls. If you're ordering with a group, make sure to do separate orders for anyone who has food sensitivities because you'll end up with jumbled ingredients if you order all together. Salmon and tuna are good quality but venturing out further leads to less...

This review is by a non-sushi eater who goes to the restaurant because his family loves sushi. There's a great plenty on the menu that not only satisfies, but is very pleasing and delicious. While everyone else was enjoying all different kinds of "rolls", my appetizer of gyoza, small fried dumplings filled with pureed shrimp were delightful. The filling was truly tasty and subtle, the "skins" of the dumplings were thin and with the dipping sauce, absolutely - appetizing! Miso soup was very good - to the last drop, and a small salad hit the spot for me. My entree was tonkatsu, deep-fried pork cutlet, again with a memorable sauce. I would say that each course was beautifully prepared, and the keys to my satisfactions were the sauces and salad dressing, each one distinct and yummy. Topped off with warm sake, I was not only a happy camper, but Hana Sushi is now on my list of...
