This is a family owned business and used to be located in the same complex as the "Save-Mart" Grocery store on Tracy Blvd. I can't recall the previous name but the owner renamed the business and moved it to this location years ago.
The name (Tracy Harbour Fish & Chips) is kind of meaningless (like saying, "where's the beef in Wendy's Hamburgers!"), because we don't live next to the ocean but "I guess you can just make-believe!"
I loved the old place as well as the new because they haven't altered their recipe in the way they make their "Fish & Chips!" The inside is just as small as the old but they're in an improved location which is easy access to the freeway and in the same lot as McDonald's & In & Out Burgers, which to me is no completion, because none of the other two make fish!
Yaaa, "Mickey D's" make a fish sandwich if you like "cardboard with tartar sauce!
This place might be small, but they have a wide assortment of selections from; grilled Mahi Mahi, Teriyaki Chicken Bowls, Udon Noodles, Calamari, Spaghetti & Chicken Combo, Chicken, Clams, Oysters, Blah, Blah, Blah, and so forth...........
And if that's not enough to stuff your "pie hole," let's not leave out their large selection of side dishes to go along with your orders, (fried onion rings, lumpia, crab leg sticks, cheese sticks, etc.).
If that doesn't get you full, get a greasy burger! Although waiting for your order can take a while especially during the dinner hour, it's worth the wait. However, I'm "smooth" and usually place my order from home then go pick it up which save me time from "fiddling with my thumb."
In my judgment, the fish is crunchy and moist and when you add the vinegar, it's a great combination.
Of course, when I was stationed overseas in the military, nothing equated to "beer battered fish & chips like the English make them, but then again, this isn't England!"
**Overall, the price is very reasonable and the food is pretty respectable if you want that fish craving satisfied.
Update: since my last review this place never changed in their product, which...
Read moreNew restaurant number ??(I don’t remember what number were on-maybe #7, although we’ve gone to a couple new ones I forgot/missed posting)
Review: Service - Excellent Portions - Perfect Food - Good. Decent batter, although, I would recommend seasoning the batter a little. I had the combo platter. The scallops were super small-not what I expected. Mark ate the oysters. He said they were good. French fries were French fries-nothing extraordinary. Their house made tartar sauce was good. Vegetarian/pescatarian - obviously they have fish. They also have veggies, but everything is fried-Everything (we’ll not their teriyaki bowls). Not for those watching what their eating. Restrooms - Clean Temperature - I was a little cold but I’m always cold. Green - No. overload of small plastic containers with lids for the sauces. Both were served with plastic forks. And their to go containers are styrofoam. Overall a fine lunch experience. We will probably come back but I’m not sure either of us would...
Read morevery delicious food and even better service. Tables were cleaned promptly after each person, keeping the atmosphere cleanliness sharp, and the food was divine! The temperature and freshness just makes it worth coming back. They even had home made tartar sauce they make in house. ( of course they also have the regular one in packets which i got as well but after trying the home made, i gave them back lol. The size portions are also worth your money as well as I am a frugal budget spender. You are able to get other sides instead of chips and I got fried mushrooms and the size of these things were enormous! They were so fresh and tasty, I will be a reoccuring customer. They also have teriyaki bowls so it satisfies your pallet in different ways from different origin foods! from Japan to England, you can get it all here!...
