Chubby Unicorn — Restaurant in Traverse City

My wife and I were literally at a loss for words! After taking our first bite, we both looked at each other and in unison, said "Oh my God", "This is the best sandwich I ever tasted!" We ordered the French's Dip and the Capi-Doodle-Dew, generous ingredients and perfectly toasted baguettes were instantly noticeable. We both thought we would only be able to eat half of our sandwiches, but that turned out to be a quick untruth as I was wiping the last dribble of au jus from my chin :) Just a few other things to mention are that my wife is gluten free and they had, in her words, the best GF baguette ever! Those of you who are gluten free can appreciate that, I am sure. The staff was amazing. They were all working very organized and efficiently in the space that they had. We ate in the cute little space next door to them with an appropriate warm ray of sunshine shining on our picnic table. Even though they were busy, two staff members actually took a moment to ask us how our meal was. I'm pretty sure our responses were incomprehensible with a full mouth. Hopefully the smiles on our faces got our point of excellence across! We are owners of a fairly large catering service, venue and restaurant in Milwaukee and we were taking a rare road trip around lake Michigan. We love to find hidden gems in places we travel to and I can tell you, "Do not miss this one!" I will be honest, I've tried to duplicate the experience since to no avail :( Thank you so much and please tell me if you are going to franchise in Milwaukee...

Ate at their food truck, the people running the food truck were more worried about chatting with their friends that showed up after I put my order in rather than completing the order, as they both left the food truck to talk for several minutes while I waited, waited 8-10 mins after the first part of my 3 sammy order came up thinking they were just busy, turns out they forgot due to talking with their friends. Upon making them aware of their mistake, they gave me the sandwhich they actually did make just failed to give to me. So while my first two sandwhiches were awesome, the third that sat for 8-10 mins and then was given to me was quite the disappointment. It’s not hard to do the right thing. A fresh sandwhich was the least that could’ve happened.

Worked in the industry for 7 plus years and through covid. Never would’ve given a customer a 8-10 min old...

Without a doubt, the best sandwiches in Traverse City!

I've had most of the items on the menu at this point, and not once have I ever walked away disappointed. This place just cannot miss when it comes to crafting unique flavors that leave you constantly wanting to come back for more.

Yet, as good as the food is, it comes in second only to the service. Chubby Unicorn offers the love and personality you hope for from a small, local favorite, and in doing so, they've crafted a following all their own. Most people walking through the door are greeted by name, but whether its your first time or fiftieth, you'll still be treated with the same care and attention.

All in all, I cannot recommend them enough. Whether you're a local to Traverse City or just passing through, you can't go wrong...
