The Whiting — Hotel in Traverse City

I have currently just moved into the Whiting Hotel myself, and it really is a great place to live for just about anybody. I am a young guy 23 years old and it's great to be right downtown, especially since my place of employment is literally right down the stairs!

After living in Traverse for a little over two years, and living in four different locations this is by far the most affordable and convenient and efficient place to live if you are single and want to be based in that downtown Traverse City area.

It is a month-to-month lease, as it has been converted into an extended stay hotel for quite a while now. If you only want to stay one month you just have to give a 15-day notice, and that applies to anytime you'd like to leave. People are always coming and going, people have also lived here for a few years and they are perfectly content. Since it's been so hard for me to find affordable housing in or in close proximity to the downtown area, I can foresee myself residing at the Whiting hotel for the foreseeable future.

There is a new guy who runs the place who is super nice and has worked extraordinary really hard to revamp this place and has done a really good job so far. The room that I moved into literally was completely remodeled, refurbished what have you. They install a new flooring , painted the walls, brand new flat screen TV add a large bed which I can't tell if it's a full...

The most amazing deal in DOWNTOWN TRAVERSE CITY!!!! It's not a luxury place - its a shared housing minimalism urban affordable downtown housing location with amazing location and FREE LAUNDRY, FREE BILLS, amazing RENT RATES and historical hotel / hostel type ambience with an amazing lobby and multiple shared kitchens and multiple full / half bathrooms. Some rooms have views of the Bay-views, with private bathrooms, hardwood floors, these are higher rent but still lower than surrounding areas. Some rooms have limited windows or no windows with no closet and this is a very basic room to rent with very very VERY low rental rates. It's not for everyone, but for the right minimal lifestyle type courteous nice quiet person this is the BEST in TRAVERSE CITY!!! Visiting family, I love the location situated perfectly in downtown Traverse City where's there's so many things to do on foot, like shopping, boating, the marina, fishing, Clinch Park and beach and so much more. I will say Traverse City's downtown has saturated itself with too many bars/drinking establishment's to the point of over saturation, sadly, but that has nothing to do with the Whiting, just my observation of how downtown has changed and not for the better.
