Barb and Hank were very kind and helpful. The inn was clean and beautiful, breakfast was delicious, plentiful and the provided snacks were better than we've had in any other B&B!. The inn's location made it easy to walk to downtown, the shore and explore different neighborhoods. Parking was easy. We had a shower issue on the first day but it was quickly fixed and much appreciated! We visited in August and even the third floor had A/C, though it would have been nice to have a fan in the room to move air around at night. This 3-star rating is for the Hannah Room specifically. The shower may be "world's fair" nifty but is not practical - situated in the middle of the tub, there is no space to comfortably wash more than your hair. Taking a bath is the better option but know there are separate hot/cold taps. The mattress is an old spring mattress and was not comfortable for us. We did love being on the third floor because no other guests were above us, but the door opens into the public area. This felt like we did not have much privacy at all. The better bet is the Milliken Room, also on the third floor but opens into a small hallway that leads to the...
Read moreEverything was great up until 9:00 the morning we were leaving. We received a phone call at 9:05 telling us we were late for breakfast. When I told them we had just work up, it was very surprising to them (you just woke up?). Yes, two parents away from kids who went bar hopping might sleep in sometimes. Heck, I’m surprised they didn’t play Reveille…. Anyway, they told us to hurry on down we were served food we didn’t pick and had to sit with another couple which was really awkward. They were the only other couple there and there were probably eight tables. I’m sorry, don’t feel like making friends first thing in the morning! My wife who didn’t like what was being served was sort of hazed by the lady via several comments. What, you don’t eat breakfast? I think after breakfast, they wanted us gone yet checkout says 11:00 AM. We came downstairs at 10:55 and the comments stated again. Cutting it close huh? I’m surprised we weren’t yelled at for walking on the grass. Nice place, don’t get me wrong. I would work on the comments especially when you’re paying...
Read moreSimply Marvelous Darling... is what my wife said after we spent our honeymoon in the French Country Suite at the Wellington Inn's Carriage House. The suite was wonderfully decorated and has two bedrooms and a nice sized living room. The refrigerator was stocked with various sodas and the suite was stocked with coffee, fresh home-made cookies daily and fresh fruit. We did enjoy breakfast at the Inn a couple mornings and is was delicious! After our wedding, each day brought forth a new adventure, from biking around town, to eating at some of the very nice restaurants, exploring shops in town, sailing an afternoon on the schooner Manitou, visiting the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and of course spending a couple days tasting wines at the many wineries. Barb and Hank were great hosts and we couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy...
