I stumbled upon Eugene’s Record Shop while my wife was at a conference, and it turned out to be the perfect way to spend an hour or two. Conveniently within walking distance of my hotel, this little spot is a treasure trove for anyone who enjoys flipping through vinyl.
The used albums were priced very reasonably—almost too reasonably if it was something I already owned (made me wish I’d waited to buy them here, lol). What really impressed me was finding albums I’d never seen “in the wild” before. My best score of the day was a Tommy James & The Shondells greatest hits record for under five bucks—can’t beat that!
The vibe in the shop was relaxed and welcoming. The one staff member on duty gave me space to browse freely while he tinkered with some equipment in the back, which I appreciated. No pressure, no fuss—just the joy of crate digging.

Read moreI love this store nothing against RPM but I'd rather go here they tend to have some of the harder to find stuff that you could buy online but hope to find it in a store. Also I bought inner and outer sleeves and they are priced better then anyone around. I figured the last couple of times I've been they would only have stuff I wanted in the metal/punk bin because I'm after emo, pop punk, Ska, post hard-core and stuff like that and I found a bunch of stuff within the rock section so I was stoked. Don't overlook anything here. I also bought my UTurn from them and it's been in use for 2 years now....
Read moreI do not recommend wasting your time here. These are the same sort of records that you would find at goodwill or an other resale place. Except these cost more. And nobody wants them still. I did find 2 Beatle 45’s that had been to hell and back for $9.00. When they are 1-2 dollars anywhere else. They don’t return phone calls or actually answer the phone so don’t bother to call first to plan your shopping. And if you do pay for parking chances are they are closed anyway because , hey, it’s the arcade downtown Traverse City. Why would they be open....
