SERVICE BEYOND SIMPLY DRINKS AND FOOD!
My wife and I were in Traverse City for a couple days and happened upon this gem of a space - a taco shop next to a well-stocked bar on the "inside", and five or so, (sorry, forgot the exact number), of food trucks, along with abundant seating, on the outside. We were there on a Monday night, and had a wonderful time enjoying food and incredibly made Margaritas. The next morning, as we were packing up our hotel room and getting ready to drive on to the next city, I realized that my prescription sunglasses were missing. After retracing the night, the last place I remembered having them was at Little Fleet, so before hitting the highway, we drove there to pick them up. Unfortunately, this was a Tuesday, and they were closed. I called and left a frantic message asking for someone to call me if they were found. (If you've ever purchased prescription sunglasses from and optometrist's office, you have an idea how much of a monetary loss this would have been for me.) Luckily, while we were on Mackinac Island, a woman named Nora called from Little Fleet, telling me that she found them! I explained how I wasn't heading back through Traverse City, and asked if there was any way someone could please ship them back to my house. Without missing a beat, Nora cheerfully told me she would be happy to return them to me. However, when I offered to reimburse her for the cost, she refused. More than once. She said it would only cost a couple dollars and not to worry about it. True, it was only eight dollars, but her kindness was worth much more, and she deserves to be compensated. So, thank you Nora! You went way out of your way to help a stranger, that is is appreciated every day. Oh, and besides the people who work there, the food and drinks are pretty damn great, too! My wife and I will be there whenever we are in Traverse City. Unless it's a...
Read moreThis is hands down one of our very favorite family places in town, particularly since Gary the food court area paved for our little guy in his gait trainer. Happy can run around freely. This is a very family-friendly place, and, if you're not familiar with it, it's the place that made the congregation of food trucks famous downtown. The beer selection is always decent (draft), though I'd like to see more Michigan stuff regularly and less California and Colorado stuff. Personal preference, though Michigan beer is better. Just sayin'.
The food truck selection is always solid, and you can buzz right across the street to Spark's BBQ (try the sundae - holy smokes) if you need a change of pace. Bring your own food if you like.
As of last summer, there's a separate little bar in the middle of the food court that has a different selection of beer (limited draft, several can options). Seating is solid, and now there's an opaque canopy over the tables in the gravel area by the fence so we don't have to run inside when it starts raining.
Lastly, but not leastly, the fire pit in the middle of the seating area is fantastic for the winter.
Very friendly, fun family atmosphere, and very alternative-lifestyle friendly if you're into that sort of thing. We'll be back! Probably in the next...
Read moreThis place had several food trucks surrounding the fleet.
I saw a review for a fish taco at the Happy place but unfortunately they did not have fish tacos. So I opted for shrimp taco. It was surprisingly very good. I would definitely go back and try other items on their menu.
They had a pizza food truck. I didn't try anything there but they remained steady.
Also a bbq place was there. My eating partner got the pulled pork. They put bbq on the side if you decide to not have any. The two sides were mac and cheese and potatoe salad which was chosen. As you get to pick two sides. The mac and cheese was not to bad. The pulled pork had a smokey flavor but not a lot of seasoning. My eating partner stated the pulled pork was much better with the bbq sauce, in which he devoured it. Potato salad was colorful, it didn't appear to have a mustard sauce added to it though. But potatoe salad is made differently.
Then we tried another food truck and wanted to try their loaded fries. It was hot, salted perfectly and parmesan cheese layered throughout. It had a sauce that was put on top. Looked like thousand island dressing. Not sure if it was a homemade version of it. It was a little sweet but overall it was pretty good fries.
You can also get alcohol beverages...
