The beer was good, but otherwise, this place was a monumental disappointment.
The atmosphere: This establishment has a strong communist theme.
The food: To say the food was not good is a huge understatement; it was downright terrible.
I started with the Spent Grain (I think) Pretzels for $8, and they were actually pretty okay if a bit burnt. The cheese served with them was bland, but the dijon mustard sauce was delicious.
As a main course, I ordered the "Beef" sandwich for $12, which was made with beef brisket. The brisket was quite overcooked and tough. The sauce was terrible. The cheese sauce (or whatever it was) was gross. I actually dipped my sandwich in the mustard that had accompanied the pretzels just to make it edible. The "homemade salsa", served on the side with store-bought chips, was actually a bland pico de gallo.
The service: You may wonder why I didn't ask my server to have it remade? Well, we never saw her again after she dumped our food at the table. In fact, the last order in our party had to retrieve their own order from the kitchen window after we watched it sit there for several minutes while our waitress did literally nothing to help us or any other patron of the restaurant. Too bad we had already left her a tip when we ordered at the bar and prepaid for our food. So, the service was "seat yourself," order at the bar, and prepay, then good luck to...
Read moreExcellent diversity of all ORGANIC beers - pretty unheard of to find an all organic brewery. Beer tasted great! We did a flight, and my favorite was the English IPA - aromatic, hoppy, perfect citrus notes we also had the prawn meal with polenta which was delicious and the pretzel, which was top notch. The pretzel and beer combination is a must. The decor was smart, very modern with an industrial upcyled take, and finely woven with artistic propaganda notes to create one beautiful brewery tapestry. We talked with the owner Pete who was happy to share his process and passion for his brewery, organic food, and art. He even gave us a print of his linocut art that inspired the mural on the main wall that you can see when you walk in. So cool!!
The brewery has large open front and is close to the water, it was a very relaxing enjoyable atmosphere and if we come back to Traverse City we will definitely be back to...
Read moreI came to Workshop Brewing for the first time and was overall pleased with the atmosphere. There was live jazz music, some board games to borrow, and great beer. However, I waited close to an hour for my food only to be called up and told they had run out of cheese for their 3-cheese Mac and cheese. I was offered the option to order something else, but to expect a similar wait time and to see the bar to re-order or get a refund. There was only one cashier and therefore there was a line to wait and get that refund. Wishing it was a better first experience and hope they can work out kinks in this process to ensure they don’t run out of food or inform customers of items that are not going to be able to be served that night due...
