Unfortunately, I am disappointed. I went in with high hopes and having heard great things about North Peak. The food was delicious, but the service slacked. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I get it. I understand and have made mistakes myself. I am forgiving and have been in their shoes, but that doesn’t excuse poor service.
When we received our food we asked for side plates to share the the two entrees that were being split and we ordered 2 drinks to go along with our meals (our first round of drinks were empty). The server returned and asked how everything was and if we needed anything. We informed her it was good we just need the plates and the drinks we ordered. She responded that the drinks were rung in.
10 minutes have passed and I am half way done my sandwich, my grandmother and dad have finished their pizza and we still have no plates for them to split their protein bowl. Our server has looked our table another 2 times and did not acknowledge us nor brought our drinks.
We gave up hope and the salad was split on the dirty pizza plate and the bowl the protein bowl came in. My meal is finished and my plates are pushed to the side and our server has passed another 2 times (total of 4 times) without addressing us. I observed her making several conversations with her other tables and filling ice for the bar, however no drinks or plates.
My dad and I agreed we no longer wanted our drinks. I walked up to the bar and waited to speak to someone to cancel our drink order. The server saw me standing there, looked at our table and I watched her walk to the POS system and then ring in our drinks… 25 minutes after we ordered them and all of us are completed eating.
I made a statement that I was unhappy and the manager over heard me and told me if I was unhappy we can resolve this. We told him we asked for plates 25 minutes ago, he brought us plates… our meals are all complete. We addressed not receiving our drinks and he walked away and then walked past our table and said nothing. Our server returns hands us the bill and said our meal was discounted and did not make eye contact. It felt as if we were not welcome there any longer and we’re being pushed out of the restaurant after we had the poor experience.
The discount was appreciated but we left North Peak unhappy, frustrated and disappointed. The manager and the company itself did nothing to earn my business in the future and left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Again, as someone who works in the service industry, I have standards and expectations like any other customer but I get it. I have made several mistakes because it happens, but the communication and honesty would have changed everything. Rather than telling us she rang in the drink and saying “great reminder, thank you” or “hey, I have a huge section tonight and I am crazy busy” we would have understood.
Instead, I felt as we were treated poorly especially once there was a concern/problem that I addressed. I hate that I have to be writing this, but I was not heard today at the restaurant and it is...
Read moreNo good. Service started off great then party of 20 came in. We got our first round of drinks and appetizers promptly then everything went downhill. After we had appetizers, we waited an hour for our dinner. Watching 2 tables enter after us eat and leave as well as watch the party of 20 receive their dinner. Our server, Jackson, had no idea as to what was going on around him apparently. He started our evening so well then not sure what happened. SORRY Jackson you really missed out on an awesone tipper here. I checked out when my niece whose 25th birthday it was had to ask for her special dessert to go. And Jackson sheepishly returned the #2 & #5 candles back to us saying, "Here i was supposed to do this?" What?!?! What a strange experience...I really left this place thinking dang we spent over $200 and I could have cooked a way better meal at home. Ordered the $18 burger added cheese making it $20 and ordered it medium but came out well done. Also was supposed to get a pesto ranch sauce on side and did not get it. Soup ordered by some else was luke warm as well as side of fries. Salad with fried chicken came with burnt fried chicken (shoe leather). The floor manager should have been notified or even been more present. Instead we got a "thank you" from poor management on our way out the door. Drink service was good. Had a special birthday and gave server special candles to put on a dessert at the end (dessert from the restaurant not brought in dessert so extra money spent on the restaurant). Again back to my niece (25th birthday girl) tured of waiting decided to go ask for her dessert to go. Situtaions happen in the restaurant qorld but its the management's job to train their staff better to recognize when the kitchen is overwhelmed to let their manager's know what is goibg on. If management was walking the floor and visiting tables they would know better. Ppl visiting from out of town or locals (maybe u have a better chamce cuz u know someone here), do not do a special dinner here. I would leave this place as sit at the bar and dont...
Read moreUnfortunately, a mediocre place with high prices and questionable food...We went here for my husband's birthday with our three children. We're from the Metro Detroit area, here on vacation, and was told it was a great place to eat. First off, our server was great, no issues with him and he was the only positive of the experience here. We arrived for an early dinner and it wasn't busy at all, yet we were sat at a booth near the kitchen entrance that didn't fit all 5 of us. We had to put a chair at the end of the table, kind of awkward. Do they seat 5 adults this way usually? I feel like it was only because we had kids. It was very over priced for what we got. My children had two kids meals and a basket of fries and my husband and I both had sandwiches with soup. My cheddar soup was lukewarm although the pretzels were good on top. My walleye sandwich wasn't great; it was overly greasy from the fryer and had no flavor, even after covering with salt and tartar sauce. One kids meal was boxed macaroni and cheese (come on guys!), one was a simple burger. The kids were excited about the homemade root beer, but all three were flat. We thought it was supposed to be like that, but maybe not? All I know is, $109 later and my husband is in the bathroom every 10 minutes with food poisoning at our hotel. The only thing he's eaten since 8am was at this restaurant. He ate the soup of the day, a pulled pork chili concoction and the reuben. Both were good he has told me earlier, but now he's probably thinking differently. Happy...
