My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Monday. Light traffic and we were able to get food right away! Locally owned and operated cafe with great food! The staff is super friendly and enjoyable. My wife ordered a bowl of the tomato basil soup and I ordered a cup of the curry soup. Both were very good, especially for the rainy day we had! For the meals, I ordered the Chicken Shawarma and my wife ordered the Falafel. We both enjoyed our meals! Great flavor, super simple, and just the right amount of food for lunch so we weren’t overly full for hours! We will be back the next time we visit the area!

We wandered the rainy streets on a Tuesday, a simple family of 4 with a golden doodle, options for seating with a dog seemed impossible. We stared through the window at Identity and a welcoming employee brought us a menu and offered the seats outside. The seating was well covered and comfortable. They were so gracious and brought our dog water. The food and beer was excellent. Something for all ages. What a great last meal for our traverse city vacation.

I had lunch at Identity Brewing, and it definitely wasn’t your typical brewery food. They have a good selection of salads and wraps, so I decided to give their San Diego wrap a try. It was delicious and filling without being overly heavy. The two beers I tried tasted good despite looking a little like soda. The staff was friendly, and the interior was fairly modern and casual. Overall, it was a good spot for lunch and I was happy with it.

While searching for a place to grab a quick bite before I had to be to the school to get my son, I found Identity. And I'm so glad I did! When I walked in, I wasn't bombarded with questions, I was able to walk over to the cooler and look at their selection. I didn't see anything in there that I wanted, however it looked fresh and yummy. But I didn't want a sandwich. When I approached the counter I was met with a happy male employee. He showed me where the daily specials were and handed me a menu too. I was able to quickly glance over the menu with ease. It was big bold letter with prices attached. I ordered the quesadilla after being told it would take less than 5 minutes to make. This was important, I had to get to the school. He quickly went to the back and made my dilla and it's delicious!! I added black beans to it and the cost was still under my price point!

The art deco is absolutely wonderful, minimal, and classy.

Edit to add: I had the privilege of being served by the owners today. Wife behind the bar and I had a pleasant conversation about raising our children, while I ate my delicious quesadilla made by...

so okay why 2 stars? I know the foods decent and the price is okay considering downtown, my reason is due to it already becoming winter in Michigan I had to stand outside to wait for my food to be ready due to their new policy regarding Covid 19. DON'T GET IT TWISTED. Totally okay with how a business goes about in these trying times it's their choice but having to wait in 30 degree blustery weather for at least 15 minutes near the bay makes me never want to come here again since that can put me at risk for catching the virus...and seeing them still offer outdoor seating disturbed me as well. There are heaters but much like any other heater it takes a moment to really kick in and work. I would highly recommend legit anywhere else down the block.

Also redo the social distancing policies in place for winter or ultimately just be strictly takeout/doordash/Uber eats something.

TLDR I didn't know beforehand how their policy had changed during the pandemic and it nearly froze me while waiting for lunch 😥😨 pray for my health to be intact after this tysm...

The food was tasty, and I loved the plant-based vegetarian options. I liked the soup/salad combo option. Hubby was disappointed in small portion size, and no side came with the sandwiches. Neither of us were offered a drink refill. Unfortunately, we had a poor experience. First line on their website is "Come on in" and on Google says they're open for dine in which is why we went there on a chilly morning. But upon arrival, we were told to sit outside. The outdoor heater didn't do much because the wind was so strong. My napkin blew in the soup as soon as the waiter put it in the table because it was so windy. Another couple came to the restaurant and was allowed to dine inside. Whether or not you may eat inside depends on the waitress who greets you, which is BS. Wanted to love this place but felt like a second-class customer allowed to enter to order but not allowed to eat inside unless I would have complained. (And, yes, we always wear our facemasks correctly so our PPE...
