I am the person that picked up the large corporate order on Monday, December 16th. First off, I have NEVER been expected to "tip" when picking up a carry-out order. If ever that has been the case, other establishments added it to the total. But what exactly would I be tipping for? I picked the order up. You, Alex made it seem like a tip was due because of who/how the bill was being paid (assuming that a tip could be afforded because it was for a company). I was discouraged from double checking the order by the waitress, which would have prevented the missing requested items. We didn't expect anything to be given to us for free, so when extra dressing was ordered it was expected to be a part of the meals because it was being paid for. Just like you think a tip was due, I think those extra dressings and other menial items should have been given to us since the order was so large. And that's the type of service that deserves tips. It's all a matter of opinion, but your staff should be relying on their employer to pay them to feed their families off of that $189 order and not a $18 tip for services that weren't even provided. I think it's sad that we have to defend ourselves behind tip or no tip (for a picked up carry-out order), considering how much business we give your establishment. We were even charged $2 for a pop while waiting for the order. Tips are earned by the service given. What about this experience displayed worthy servitude? How many $15 carry-out orders did you request a tip for? Shame on you for capitalizing off of who you think can and should afford to tip as opposed to tipping being fairly expected to orders exceeding a certain amount no matter if the guests...
Read moreAlex's grill was a pleasant surprise for us. We came in on a Sunday, at about 10:30 and the place was absolutely bustling. All the tables were full, but we were offered a couple of chairs at the counter as we waited. From the counter view, we noticed how the three servers coordinated seamlessly and efficiently across the entirety of the place. Our beverages were constantly refilled as we waited on a table. Two individual individual regulars also sat at the counter, and I overheard them being addressed by their first names, and pleasantries exchanged with ease and familiarity. Our food happened to arrive while we were still at the counter. We requested to be relocated to one of the tables that had just became available, which was accommodated without fuss. On the contrary, the servers apologized for not having is on a table by the time our food arrived. My wife ordered the loaded waffles and I the veggie omlette. Portions we're generous and the waffles were amazing! The omlette had an abundant serving of vegetables, something both of us happily noticed. My wife's usually not a coffee drinker, but she enjoyed the coffee and we noticed the servers grinding the beans on the spot to make every couple of pots, resulting in the fresh crisp taste. The servers were really great and bustled about the place quite like mother hens, ensuring the patrons were satisfied. Overall a great experience; I think we just found our go to breakfast place! We'll definite be returning to...
Read moreWatch your bill, these people lack integrity and will not charge you the same prices on the menu. When I noticed the change and asked why I was charged more, I was met with the overused excuse that the manager increased the prices today but hasn’t updated the menu. Not only is this unethical and illegal but here’s how it works…if you don’t change your prices on your menu then you didn’t have a price increase. This review is purely principal and I’m fed up with restaurants treating their customers this way. I would have never done that.
They don’t even put the price for each item on the handwritten bill, then take the menu from the table, hoping you won’t notice the difference. Unless someone sits at their table like me who is a former restaurant owner in the area or a savvy numbers person. The woman who came to the table to give me this blatant lie excuse attempted to make me feel like I couldn’t afford to pay the price increase when it’s clearly obvious they can’t afford to have an honest business and feel the need to subtly inflate your bill from the price you agreed to pay on the menu. Also, $1.00 for a side of sour cream? Really? Far better honest businesses to give your money to in the area. If you want an orange juice with your breakfast it’ll cost you $4.00 at this very small family diner. I can see paying that for the atmosphere at a high quality brunch -...
