Food is way too overpriced and doesnât taste good. So Iâve been here 3 times, today being the third time. The first time I got the loaded fries, and it was really good in my opinion. It had brisket, fries, sauce, jalapeños, I think cheese, and other toppings. It was only 5 or 6 dollars and I felt it filled me up.
The next time I went I got a sandwich and some sides, the sandwich was overpriced, being around 9-10 dollars and they charge 3 dollars for a piece of corn bread. I get you have to make a profit but 3 dollars for one piece is absurd. Iâll give it to them that the corn bread was actually good, but the other sides werenât. The mac and cheese wasnât good and the corn pudding wasnât good either. After that time I was very dissapointed because the sandwich was small yet 10 dollars, and the sides werenât good and overpriced as well, each are 3 dollars for a small container. I thought to myself Iâll just get the loaded fries next time I go.
So today I go and I see that the loaded fries are gone and they have replaced it with not only a more expensive option, but something that is obviously cheaper for them to make. It was nachos for 9 dollars. I already was here so I thought fine itâs similar, they replaced the more expensive brisket with pork and said I need to pay 3 extra dollars to get brisket. Keep in mind the loaded fries were like 6 dollars and already came with brisket. So I just keep the pork and the chips were all soggy, the sauce was either all over a single chip or not on a chip at all, the pork was filled with fat and had no flavor and there was nothing else with it, no jalapeños, no cheese, no fries, no brisket. For a much more expensive price. Very salty chips that made my lips tingle after eating them. Like I said before, I get you guys need to make a profit, but the prices are way out of wack and it seems you guys are thinking of new ways to raise the prices and make the food worse, which is unacceptable. Hence the one star I am...
Read moreSaw this place on the way to work one day. Finally tried it.
First off, the parking situation is horrible for a lunch trip. Theres probably 10 spots to eat sharing a parking lot for maybe 3 0 cars. There's a garage located about a block away but due to construction, navigating to it proved difficult.
Service was quick and sufficient. The employee at the counter seemed nice.
I get back to work with my carryout. Here's what I got: Pulled Pork Sandwich Fries Mac and Cheese Cole Slaw
Slaw: Bland. Bland will be the theme here. It tasted like I was eating chunky cabbage and mayonnaise. There was no tang to the slaw and it wasn't really a slaw as the cabbage wasn't shredded and looked more like salad leaves. I'm not a huge cole slaw guy, but I do like mine with a bit more tang. Maybe people will like this but it's a 3/10 for me
Fries: Soggy. After a 5 minute (1.2 mile) drive back to work, my fries were soggy. Other than that they were pretty typical fries. 5/10
Pulled Pork Sandwich: I've never had such a greasy sandwich in my life. Seriously. McDonalds McDoubles leave my hand with a higher friction coefficient than this sandwich. Yikes.
The sandwich bun was soaked to the point of falling apart on contact. I figured out a way to bite the sandwich and was greeted with a flow of what you would think was "pork juice" but if you tasted the meat, you'd assume was just water. I couldn't even finish this sandwich and pulled pork is my go to at any bbq joint.
Mac and cheese: Blander. I can't even describe how unenjoyable this was. It tastes like Stouffers frozen Mac and Cheese except worse.
Tl;dr Full of grease, lacking inspiration on flavors. 2/10 You'll have a better bbq experience with microwaved off...
Read moreDecent BBQ. Did carryout, but it was nice inside. Bright and clean. Staff was super nice and made small talk while I was waiting for my order (which only took about 5 minutes). Remember when people used to talk to each other? Made you feel like they weren't there just to take your money, which I appreciate. Not overpoweringly smokey BBQ. Some places you feel like you're opening a bag of burnt logs. This was a little more subtle. I like smokey, but sometimes it's overdone. All the sides were decent, too. Cornbread was a little more on the bread side than the cornmeal side. I kind of like crumbly cornbread, but that's just a personal preference. Tried the Judge's sampler. Portion size was more generous than other BBQ joints in the area. Chicken - good. Ribs - good. Pulled pork - good. Brisket - look... brisket is tough, especially when you're trying to turn out product all day long. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. Just a little dry, which is the same as 9 out of 10 places that serve brisket. It's not easy to nail -- but when you cut a slice of brisket, you should be able to pick it up, intact. This just fell apart. Had to scoop it up with a fork. That aside, it had nice flavor and was very tender. Tried 3 of the sauces. Original and Brush Fire (if you like a little heat) was good. Sweet was a little too sweet for me, but I can't drink a Coke, either. Bottom line... I'd go again, and I will. Oh jeez, I almost forgot... the chocolate cake. Yeah....
