Cloud Sushi — Restaurant in Truckee

Finallyyyyy. Definitely the freshest, tastiest sushi I’ve had in the Reno-Tahoe area. I have been on the hunt for excellent sushi in Reno and Truckee (I really missed the incredible sushi I could get in NYC and Japan), and I didn’t think it existed until I stumbled across Cloud.

Rolls, miso soup, and sashimi were all flavorful and beautifully presented. My only issue was the sashimi was super chonky and I love when the slices are thinner, so if that’s your preference too, just get the rolls or slice it up at home.

A nigiri offering would be amazing too! Looking forward to trying their uni. We’ll be back!

Update: I hesitated to update my review but was convinced to for health and safety. My family all ended up with severe gastrointestinal distress from the sushi here, which lasted for over 48 hours. I don’t know if it was an issue with their sanitation or if the fish had not been frozen properly beforehand per FDA regulations. I have never had better sushi in my life. Ordered the cloud nine roll, the spicy salmon roll, the high chair roll, and the pot of gold roll. They were so good. I very rarely give out 5 stars unless it is deserved and this place is definitely deserving. The fish was fresh and the rice perfect. Their chili sauces are a must. We also got miso soup and let me tell you, that was the best miso soup I've ever had. It was even better then the soup I had in Paris. I'd you come here you should definitely get the miso soup. Its even better then miso soup in Japan. The cooks were very polite and friendly and there is a good amount of seating. It did take a little bit to get the sushi but not too long (we also got a lot of rolls so you will probably have to wait less.) in the picture with the 3 rolls I had to edit an arm out of the picture so the top right roll is actually longer In real life. Sushi of the hidden cloud is impressive. Who would’ve thought that there such quality sushi up here in Truckee. All the raws are fresh and beautifully made.

What’s weird is that they take reservations and the workers are surprisingly uptight about it. We were there at open and 2 tables were reserved for a party that’s gonna be there in 40 min. It was shaded, and it’s hot and sunny. So we figured we ordered and we’ll be done before these folks even show up, but we were told to move and can’t sit there by the server. Rather unreasonable, and with limited outdoor only seating, it doesn’t make much business sense to take reservations. I think more money can be made if it’s just first come first serve first serve.
