4th Avenue Delicatessen — Restaurant in Tucson

Came in at 3PM on a Monday and ordered a cold sandwich and a NYC hot dog. There were no other customers in the restaurant, so we hoped we would get our food in time to catch the 3:15 street car. After taking our order, only one employee starting preparing it while the other two employees did nothing but talk until 5 minutes later, when a second employee came to help. The employees showed no haste in preparing our food and brought it out at 3:13, but in dining in containers, despite us ordering to go. They took it in the back and came out at 3:15 with the bag, precisely as the street car rolled away from the stop. A couple minutes later when I looked in the bag, I noticed the hot dog only had mustard on half of it, and more than half of the sauerkraut was in the box underneath the bun. We have eaten here before, but they consistently take more than 10 minutes to prepare 1-2 item orders despite how many employees are on staff or how busy it is. I am probably the worst patron you could have lmao I am absolutely one of the pickiest people on the planet and hotdogs are my favorite food. These were the best hotdogs I’ve ever had. I got the dirty white boy and the T-dog. Softest most delicious bread and the toppings were piled on. They were AMAZING!!!! No pics bc I’m greedy and couldn’t wait to eat them. Also they were lukewarm bc I waited until I drove home which makes my review even more impressive. The total was $9.24. I will absolutely come back and try a sandwich. Today was a special day for me and these hotdogs were the icing on the cake. I’ve been waiting to try this place since the pandemic started. Worth the wait. Wow!!! The cashier (girl-woman shoulder length hair black hair) made my hotdogs and she literally took forever 😂 I watched her add every ingredient with precision and care. I'm not sure if the employees have never had a job before now, but they conpletely forgot about our order (their words) in the oven for 30 minutes and had to completely remake it despite being the only customers. When they came to bring us our food they had also forgotten we had asked for it to be to-go, which would not be a problem if the employee hadn't glared at us for asking for it to be to-go like we had initially asked for. Both employees had poor decorum in general. When we had the opportunity to eat, we found one of our sandwiches, Ma Barker, to have too much bacon instead of chicken, which we found to be odd for a sandwich where the primary meat listed is chicken. This was an awful first experience that does not make me want to return, which is a shame as I try my best to only eat locally, but not if the employees will give us incorrect portions and sneer at us for reminding them of already made...
