I have reasons i would want to rate this place a 4 star, but everything amounted to a mixed experience. I had the Sizzling Hong Kong Pepper Steak and Crispy Squid. The squid was cooked to a perfect texture and paired well with the thinly chopped cabbage. However, the dehydrated onion/garlic flakes were way too salty. I understand and know that this is often the case with this dish but in a restaurant setting and for the price i paid i would have preferred they pan fry minced onion/garlic instead which would have delivered better flavor and not so much saltiness. The Sizzling Pepper steak was... Not sizzling. It was served on a sizzle plate but there was no visual/audible sizzle. The steak and peppers were cooked well but, it did not have much peppercorn or black pepper flavor that i would have liked. Service is young and energetic but not perfect. They shine in some areas and not others. For example, there were only two or three occupied tables and it still took 15-20min for me to be seated. Albeit they seem to be very popular with pickup orders. It also took quite a long time to get a boba slushie to go. Iwill return one more time to try their more unique items like fish/seafood but doubt i will be a repeat customer afterwards.

I was really excited to try this place because of all the awesome reviews I read. I'm pregnant and was really craving Chinese food. I was really rather disappointed in the food overall. Egg drop soup was good, as you'd expect. Pork fried rice was dry and a bit bland. Pepper steak: the steak was really great. Juicy and tender and I ate all of it lol. The peppers and onions weren't chopped correctly so the pieces weren't all the same general size. This caused some of the larger pieces of pepper and onion to be under cooked instead of nice and soft. The taste was very good though. The prices on the menu here in the Google Maps app also don't really match what the menus show at the actual store so keep that in mind. Everything outside of their single dinner combos gets crazy expensive. I'm glad I just went with the combo because if I had gotten a bunch of stuff (I'm pregnant so believe me I thought about it lol) I would've been kicking myself for spending so much money on food that was just kind of "meh". Will be trying another Chinese food place next time. Hope this was helpful

Like most big cities in America, Tucson has an abundance of Chinese and Asian restaurants. It's hard, if not impossible, to have just one favorite. My goal when eating out is always searching for a new place to experience and comparing them to my favorite familiar stops. Ba-Dar is a place near my home, which I always drive by but hadn't stopped to visit. Today was the day, and boy have I've been missing out! The wontan soup and the mixed Mongolian dish I had were delicious. Perfectly cooked, quickly served, and nicely presented, made my visit extremely satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient along with the lobbies' clean appearance. I'm looking forward to more visits in the future. I highly recommend the Ba-Dar if you're hungry and in the area. Happy eating!

To be fair, my rating is only based on the hot and sour soup, and I am willing to give them another chance on something else, maybe. However, hot and sour soup is my all-time favorite Chinese meal, and this one was super gross. Have you ever accidentally drowned something in Tabasco's chipotle hot sauce? Well, they did. It was this that ruined the soup more than anything else, although there isn't much else to say about the soup. There was nothing redeemable about it! It was thin with meager ingredients including only a small amount of egg, bamboo shoots, non-shitake mushrooms (when shitake is essential imo), wood ear (at least they got that one right even if there wasn't enough of it), and for some reason, green onion, which doesn't belong in this soup, at all, imo. It was a small amount, but it is the wrong flavor and just takes hot and sour soup in the wrong direction. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT order the hot and sour soup here. I was desperate for a good meal I didn't have to cook myself and got delivery, but I sincerely regret my order, which stupidly was two large orders of this stuff. I couldn't finish one of them despite my hunger, which should have made this meal even better, but that was impossible, and the second one is NOT FIXABLE. It really is terrible! So bad! I feel pretty certain that Tabasco's chipotle hot sauce has no business in Chinese food. It is all wrong! It tastes like burnt barbecue with a hint of ketchup and a lot of vinegar. That can be good on Mexican or American style meat and beans, but what the hell would anyone want it on Chinese food for? Did they run out of better sauces and spices, or is this really their go to? Gross and...

UPDATE: We have been going here for 3 years. Ever since they stopped doing dine in the food has just gone downhill. We keep giving chances until today we are done waiting for them to get better. Today was bad the chicken was super chewy and seemed old. The only good thing was the soups and crab puffs. This was the worst Chinese I’ve had in a long time. It’s sad to see what was once an amazing restaurant go downhill this bad. We have even recommended them to people in the past. I hope they can start serving good food again. We may try again in a few years if they are still open then.

3 years ago We've eaten here just once at this point but we will definitely be back. The orange chicken was one of the best I've ever had it was almost like eating candy chicken super wierd but awesome and the white crunchy noodles they put it on I’ve never had before but they really compliment the chicken. And the wonton soup and egg drop soup was amazing. The only thing we ordered that we would not order again was the eggfoo young but that is only because we are crazy picky about eggfoo young and it just wasn't what we were wanting. The girl at the desk was super nice and really sweet to my kids as we had gone in to order take out. My kids are love asking questions and she was happy to answer them. I loved that the food didn't seem to just be a ton of salt which is always my complaint with Chinese food. And it all seemed...

4 stars for food. ZERO stars for SERVICE. Table of 3. Got there at 5pm. Walked out the door at 7pm.

What made us most upset. EVERY server could see we were in need of service. NO ONE STEPPED UP to assist. Or ask if we needed anything. We obviously DID !!

Zero. Waitress gave my husband sassy back talk as we were leaving. Asked. Begged for lemons for water. Do you have wine or beer. Her reply “ummmm”. SPEAK UP. for pete’s sake. Do you have Sake!? Ummmm. Husband saw it on display. We will have 2 sakes.

Nothing arrived for the longest time. Nothing. Begged for lemons for the horrid water. Finally got the soup. One sip and Then the $4.00 included with dinner - appetizers all arrived at same time. Our friend got her dinner over 20 minutes before we did. We ordered special rice. Nope. She said one bowl for for the entire table.

Then the order to go. We said OUR FRIEND joined us. He was right there. Sitting there. In person. She brought his meal in brown paper bag. Even though we specifically said. Serve the meal on a plate please.

She dismissed us. We are not tourists. We had the worst service ever.

Waitress. Blonde ends. Black roots. Mask. American//non-asian NEVER SPOKE A WORD. ??bad day?? First day on job?? TELL US. SPEAK.

Come on people. Step up. Tables were being seated around us. After us. They were served. Beer. And wine. And food before us.

Bad service. BAD TEAMWORK. owner...
