Beyond Bread — Restaurant in Tucson

Yesterday my wife and I decided to travel to Mount Lemmon to view the colors and have a leisurely lunch. I suggested we go to Beyond Bread for sandwiches for the mountain lunch. I ordered two sandwiches and sides on-line, paid for the order and traveled to The Speedway store for pick-up. The order process was easy but that is where the pleasant expedience ended. Upon arrival at B.B., I parked in Curbside Pickup spot #2. I called the number on the sign and it rang incessantly until if finally just stopped and I was off. (This was 10:00 AM on Saturday October 30, 2021). The store did not appear to be extremely busy at that hour. I called a second time and the phone rang many times again. Finally a voice answered. I said order pick-up for (my name) at Pick-up spot #2. The voice on the other end said "what?" I said my last name and spelled it. The voice again said, "What?" I spelled the the name slowly again and the phone was disconnected. We waited. Eventually a young lady came out with a bag, came to the car and said, in a very faint voice, "here ya go". That was it, she turned an walked away. I asked my wife to check the bag to see if our orders were complete. She did and all seemed as ordered. We traveled to Mount Lemmon, found a nice spot and broke out our lunches. However, to further spoil the choice of going to Beyond Bread, our bags were missing items. (When we checked our orders at the store, we did not open the individual bags but relied on the printed receipt to ensure the order was complete.) I ordered chips with my sandwich but none were found. I ordered 2 condiments, (mustard and basil pesto) which were included. However, there were not utensils to spread the condiments. Further there was only 1 small napkin in the package. Though perhaps seemingly insignificant, when I pick-up a curbside meal, pay more than $26.00 for 2 sandwiches, tip the staff and fail to receive the entire order I believe I lived up to the implied contract but was failed by a staff seemingly unconcerned about presenting a complete product and certainly not demonstrating good customer service. I believe happened 05/04/2022 1:00 pm wed or thursday clam chowder day the day after chilli day . when they VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU EAT HERE. Some foods may not be NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION We bought a bread bowl and a Reuben sandwich during lunch we had the clam chowder soup in bread bowl after 1 pm and felt something very un comfortable in my mouth I took second look in what we were eating me and my wife and there was something that had like a bounce when we moved are for inside thick soup the liquid was dried up from soaking in to bread bowl so you could see better plus we were taking packs at bread outer crust. So I felt alittle scared because something kept curling in my soup not like it was alive but you know if you cook something it has a nature to stay curl. Well we found a worm and another piece inside look like more plus the one I just ate. My wife was very discussed at the whole situation and I got scared. I PULLED THE CURLED UP TYPE WORM OUT AND HAD A FULL TEXTURE OF A WORM WITH A FRONT AND A TAIL END. I DONT KNOW IF WE NEED TO PURSUE THIS FURTHER IN ANY WAY. SO THE GM MANGER Darcy came to talk to us and I felt she was being very rude and said it cant survive in I forgot such and such heat were they boil it any way. And it's part of the clam chowder probably. Well instead of offering something to clear our thickness or stomachs they were laughing about the situation some of the cooks so forth. I didn't walk out comfortable and for here to say I'm gona give you the 7 dollars back for the bread bowl out her pocket and that's it. Felt degrading. I was referred here from some high references in the community and when I explained and showed the pictures. They wanted me to take further action I'm not familiar with and I feel uncomfortable contacting the gm anyway since I taked with her and didn't even get a apologie for situation or better outcome. Were pretty upset and dont know what to do and Darcy kept the receipt instead of return it to us and felt really sick for two days. P.s. I showed my mom and she says she orders all the time in a different location and never had that problem or something like that in her soup. Shes strongly supports me because shes familiar with that...

Always a winner. Been eating at Beyond Bread since we made it to So. Arizona in 2021. I think I haven’t done this review due to laziness. But it’s well overdue. I have not tried anything other than the Bob’s BLT. Honestly I don’t care to try anything else because this sandwich just on its own is perfect! The bread, perfect crunch, great flavor that holds the lettuce, tomato and bacon really well. The bread is just as good as the rest of what is inside. I get the BLT with no mayo and extra bacon. They will do it. The best part of this sandwich is when you take a bite out of it. You hit every layer just rite. First you go thru the perfectly toasted bread, then you start to bite into the bacon followed by the veggies. You get to experience every layer of crunch unlike any other sandwich out there. The whole sandwich is a big perfect crunch. Nothing overpowering anything. All the flavors are perfect. The sides are all great but again, I only get the pasta salad. It’s a perfect variety of peas, corn, a little parmesan cheese I think as well as the pasta. I detect a hint of acidity probably from some kind of vinegar. Absolutely delicious. The BLT and the pasta salad has to be the perfect combination yet. It’s so good I don’t care to try anything else. I’m loyal to this sandwich and will remain so. The other sandwich was a Tito’s Torta. I took a small bite and it’s incredible. Bread is perfect, a ton of meat, creamy avocado, lettuce, tomato, etc…This sandwich is big, bigger that my BLT. You can eat half now and eat the other half later. It was paired with a fat free vinegar slaw. Great taste by the way. Service is quick. No matter what you get it’s going to be great. And there is also lots of pastry and cookie varieties. Can’t go wrong with it either. Prices are fair. The picture of the menu and prices are current as of 5/2025. Next time you crave a sandwich then give it a try. This it 10 times better than the typical sub sandwiches we all see advertised from all the other...
