The staff at the Jerry Bob's on Valencia are extremely rude to their customers. I ordered scrambled eggs with avocado and salsa over the phone for a pick up. They said it would take 15-20 minutes. I came in to pick up the food and stood in front of the cashier lady. She was busy with some receipts or something which was fine. However she proceeded to work on these receipts without even saying anything to me for a good 5 minutes. Finally she stuck her hand out as if to take a check from me and still didn't say one word...not even a hello. I told her I was actually there to pick up an order. She went over to the kitchen window and talked to another waitress. The other waitress asked me my name and then asked the cook in spanish something. They squabbled back in forth all the while the cook seemed angry. Both the waitresses walked away. The original waitress walked back to the cash register where I was standing and yet again said nothing...like hellooooo?! Am I invisible? Didn't you just check to see if my order was ready? She kept her head down and proceeded to yet again work on receipts. Finally I saw my to go box come up. Another waitress bagged it and handed it to the lady at the cash register. She then just rudely plopped the check on the register...again without saying one word...I know she is not deaf/mute I have heard her speak to customers and waiters. I gave her the money she gave me the change and I left. The next day (today) both my coworker and I ordered eggs with avocado and salsa except for this time I added chicken. They said it would be ready by 12:30pm. I went with my friend and went to the cash register area and she said she knew who we were. We waited yet again for the eggs and I had to ask if they were ready again. She said a couple of minutes which is fine. When she told us the total for the lunches they had charged my coworker almost 3 dollars more than they had charged me for the same exact thing that I ordered the day before!!! She said the manager told her to charge that amount. I told her that doesn't seem fair that they changed their prices within a day. Also I looked at my total and they charged me almost 4 more extra dollars for the chicken!!!!!!! She went in the back and spoke to her manager came out and offered my coworker the price I was charged the day before but they didnt even change my price. I asked to see the chicken they added as she said it was the price of a chicken dinner. My coworker even said out loud I didn't even see the chicken!! SO they charged me 4 extra dollars for like 5 small pieces of...
Read moreI have eaten at Jerry Bob's several times and they do have good food. However today I am giving one star and I will explain. I was looking forward to a nice meal, I went around 11:30 and due to holidays it was very crowded, it fact several people were standing waiting for a table.
Since I was alone, and spotted 2 empty seats at end of the meal counter I sat myself down. A moment later a waitress comes up to me and asks me if I just got there, and I told her yes. She told me that she has people waiting and could not sit there until she offered it to everyone waiting first. I have been to restaurants all over the country as I travel a lot with my job as a pilot. Never anywhere did I ever here of a policy where you needed to be seated by staff at a meal counter! I explained to her that I thought it was open seating at the counter and she kind of acted like I was from another planet! She explained if I vacated the seat and after she offered it up to everyone else and there were no takers, then I could return to that seat. I did not see this happening after I got up and after being rather ticked and embarrassed at this strange supposed policy, took my business elsewhere.
When you walk into a restaurant, isn't it understood that the meal counter is open seating, first come first served? And doesn't the fact that people standing around after seeing open seats at counter simply tell you they are not interested in sitting at the counter? This is still planet earth, correct? Did someone rewrite the rules of etiquette? When I go into a bar in the future and walk up to an empty stool at the bar, do I need to ask bartender if it is open seating...

I can only hope that it was the day of the week in the time of day that I went that affected the food and the service but I'm not exactly sure after reading some reviews on Yelp and here on Google.
It is pretty convenient that it is a seat yourself restaurant, I quickly found a seat it was clean and the table that was appropriately set with place settings. I waited for 8 minutes before one young lady came and asked what I wanted to drink a massively signs hot chocolate topped with a decent amount of whipped cream I surely cannot complain about) waited for another 3 minutes until another young lady came and slammed a menu in front of me. It took approximately 7 minutes for her to make her rounds and take my order. She then remove the menu and walked away without saying anything.
9 minutes later I received my meal: eggs, hash browns, and toast. Definitely can't complain about the eggs or toast AZ it takes a lot to mess that up but there was something wrong with the hash browns. They were cut in a perfect rectangle and it took a knife to cut them. They were obviously overcooked.
When I was done eating, the same lady who rudely put down my menu and took my order came back and put the bill in front of me. I kindly asked her if I paid at the register or if she took it and she motioned back towards the register.
This location is on the corner of Valencia and Tucson Boulevard. It is right near Denny's and had I known the service and food would have been this bad I definitely would have paid the extra money to be treated...
