While exploring Tucson, my teenager's spontaneous number game led us to an unexpected culinary adventure. After a bit of a detour searching for a restaurant that began with the letter "Y," we found ourselves on 4th Avenue, where destiny intervened and brought us to La Yaquisita.
The weather was stunning—a beautiful day—perfect for enjoying a meal on the patio. The ambiance was vibrant yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot to unwind. I decided to try the Birria Shrimp Tacos, and I must say, they did not disappoint.
These tacos were a delightful twist on what I had originally craved: a Gobernador Taco. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, tender and infused with flavor, complemented beautifully by the melted cheese and rich consomme. Each bite was a perfect balance of savory and spicy, especially with the addition of grilled jalapeños and fresh green onions, which added a delightful crunch and heat.
To top it all off, I paired my meal with an ice-cold beer. The combination of the refreshing drink and the delicious tacos made for a perfect outdoor lunch experience. La Yaquisita truly encapsulated the essence of Tucson dining—casual, flavorful, and unforgettable. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a taste of their...
Read moreA Warm and Authentic Experience While visiting Tucson with my daughter, we had a disappointing experience at another restaurant, but La Yaquesita Mexican Cuisine completely turned our day around. This place embodies authentic Mexican cuisine and hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming service made us feel like family. I ordered the carne asada caramelo, and my daughter, who is a notoriously picky eater, had the birria tacos. To my surprise and delight, she declared it the best taco she’s ever had! The staff’s kindness wasn’t just reserved for us—it was evident in how they interacted with every customer. Their genuine care and superb yet understated service truly set them apart. If I could, I’d give this place 10 stars, but since I’m limited to 5, they’ve definitely earned every single one. I highly recommend La Yaquesita to anyone looking for an exceptional dining...
Read moreThis place has a more authentic Mexican flare. I lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 2 years. This food was more in alignment with the stuff I'd eat there on the street. I ordered the Pollo burro. While I was waiting I ate the complimentary chips they gave me. I told my friend who was eating with me these are the best chips I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Not only was the food excellent but the ambiance and service was great. Also professional chefs like the late Anthony Bordain and Gordon Ramsy, etc they say to know if a restaurant is safe to eat at check the bathroom. If it is dirty or clean that is how they usually keep their kitchen as well. The bathroom at La Yaquesita was spotless and clean. I will be...
