Tucson Food Exploration #33 - Miss Saigon Vietnamese 🇻🇳 Restaurant

I heard good things about this restaurant, so I was excited to try it. I got the fried egg rolls and chicken sate with coconut curry sauce. Unfortunately, this was the worse Asian food I've ever had. I ordered it to go and was told it would take about 10 minutes. It took about 2 minutes, so I don't think anything was cooked fresh. The egg rolls weren't crisp and were way over cooked. The chicken was so dried out and tough I could barely chew it. (The sauce was very good though). The vermicelli noodles were ice cold, the greens with the egg rolls were one big wedge of ice berg lettuce with a few cucumbers (no dressing) and greens with the chicken were shredded ice berg lettuce, cucumber & onion, again with no dressing, and the white rice was barely lukewarm. I didn't open it until I got back to my hotel, or I would have refused the order or sent it back. So disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. It was a complete waste of $20.

Elegant Vietnamese restaurant, cheaply cooked food! Their top of the line, best Miss Saigon fried rice for $9.99 is a JOKE! 2 pcs of shrimps, some slices of chicken and some other seasoning, TOO OILY RICE and that's what you paid for your $9.99! Pho is okay... same Pho from other restaurant. Fried Spring Roll-Ugly as hell! They put cabbage instead of romaine and mint, and how they fry it looks like rushed, burnt and unattractive! (Sorry no picture available) try DA VANG at 19th and Camelback in Phoenix and you will try the AUTHENTIC VIETNAMESE FOOD. Sorry but... I've been eating Vietnamese food for 10 years now in different authentic Vietnamese Restaurants and I know what's the REAL DEAL. If you want a high class ambience and you don't mind the food itself, this is a good place for you. I believe they can do better than this...

Went with a big group for a birthday, chose this one instead of the one we love on Campbell because it would be more accommodating for the size of our party. Started with waters, 20 minutes later someone (who we later found out was the bus boy) came and took our drink orders and some appetizer orders. He completely botched the orders. Didn’t bring out the amount of appetizers that we ordered and then brought out extras of what was suppose to be a single order. Instead of taking back the extras and bringing what we asked for he looked at us like it was our fault and DID NOT take back the wrong orders OR bring what we were missing. We ignored it, got over it. 30 minutes later (after we went and grabbed someone) they sent us our ACTUAL waiter and he took our orders. After he took our orders he made a second round around the table to decipher what else we had ordered to add it to our checks. No one claimed the extra/wrong orders because NO ONE ordered them. He said he’d figure it out. Our food starts to trickle out. Dirty dishes still all over the table, no room for new dishes, but they keep on bringing them out. It’s chaos. The bussers/waiters are literally screaming out orders so someone will raise their hands and claim them. Now this was the real kicker. They bring out my order with another that was suppose to be the same. I look at it and can tell right away it’s not what I ordered, so I let them know before they put the bowl down. They take both the orders back because they are both wrong. The waiter comes back with the same bowls and puts them down and says, “this is your order but we put extra stuff in it”..... like REALLY?? They put “extra” stuff that we clearly told them, when we ordered, that we did not want. Yet they plopped it down in front us and basically said here’s your wrong order, you’re welcome for the extra stuff you didn’t want to begin with. They did not take it back to fix it, just like the appetizers. Time to pay, the waiter is scrambling. Getting everyone their checks. Till this point we were ALL really understanding and nice about eating what we didn’t order because we know it’s a big party and can be tough, we’ve gotten over the bad service, wrong orders, the fact that no one offered to bring to-go containers (we grabbed them ourselves), the dishes piled on our tables as well as the floors and carts by the bathrooms and register. We’re ready to leave all the checks are paid and the waiter comes back with a list of unpaid stuff, which were the orders the busboy messed up and didn’t take back AND the orders that weren’t brought out AT ALL. And wants to know who is paying for them! We didn’t have a choice but to split the charges and left HORRIBLY disappointed and enraged over the service and experience. Such a disappointment. Management needs to train the...

"I ordered extra vegetables and tendon. Many places would give you less broth or noodles to make up for the extra space, but my bowl came out overflowing. Not in an unmanageable or mess way, but rather appropriately for the amount of extras I got. Service was great and the wait was short even tho they were very busy." Was my first review. I even gave them five stars. Then recently I ordered to-go. They told me over the phone that they were out of an ingredient for my Pho. So I asked if I could have a bit extra of something else. They agreed. I got there five minutes after they said it would be ready which was already longer than they took to get my food together in-store. Then, at checkout I asked for an extra container of hoisen sauce. They told me they had to charge, so I pointed out that if I ate in the restaurant I could use as much as I wanted and it was not an issue. They said it was, "Just their policy." I again pointed out that the policy seemed inappropriate because the serving of hoisen was very small and I got to use much more in-store at no extra cost. They told me they would not do it, so I asked to see a manager. They told me to wait. I waited 10 minutes and they finally came out and told me that there was not a manager in on Saturday Nights. Which doesn't make any sense because first they made me wait to tell me that and second, what kind of restaurant has no manager on a Saturday Night. When I got home I realized that my Large Pho was the same size as my girlfriend's small. So they either shorted me or gave her extra. Either way, kinda lame. Then I opened my box of mix-ins and they didn't put extra of the item they agreed to put in. I called back to sort out the issue and the same girl I spoke to at the register answered but she pretended not to speak English this time. I hung up and called their other location that I have always had great service at and asked to speak to a manager. They too told me that there was never a manager in on Saturday Nights there either. I explained my situation to the person who answered and they told me that I'd be getting a call back from their manager. Then they took my name and number. It has now been two weeks. No call back. I am not going here again. These people think they have a Pho'nopoly, and I'm not...

Yeah, only 2 stars but please understand it has nothing to do with the food, atmosphere, cooks or waiter. I would have given a full 5 stars but the hostess/cashier girl was incredibly unpleasant. My boyfriend and I came in an hour before they closed last night right behind a party of 4. The hostess reluctantly gave us a chip and told us it'd be a 5-10 minute wait. It did look like a busy night but I am not convinced that every single table was occupied. We took a walk and came back ten minutes later. There were open seats and the hostess was behind the cash register but made no move to have us seated. Another couple came in and were checking out the menu as the hostess helped 2 or 3 parties who were on their way out. I figured she'd finally have us seated or at least have a waiter seat us. She then helped the other couple order food to go. At this point my boyfriend stood up and finally a waiter hustled over and asked if we'd been helped then seated us. Luckily we already knew what we wanted to order because the kitchen was closing. The waiter was great and our food was on the table less than 5 minutes after we ordered. Phenomenal phó! The plates looked amazing, everything was fresh and the taste matched. 5 stars on the food! The check came and we took what we had left to go shortly after. My boyfriend and I have worked in the service industry for years. We made sure to leave a tip on the table instead of a mess and stacked the dishes.out of habit. We were cashed out by the girl who had us wait, then helped other customers that came in after us and almost caused us to miss our opportunity to order before the kitchen shut down. The only thing she said was the total and she was in such a rush to get away from the register that the change nearly missed my hand when she practically tossed it into my hand. She made her burden of helping us quite clear and didn't even offer us a copy of the receipt. It ruined the otherwise flawless experience for me. The food was top notch and the other staff members I interacted with were very professional. I won't be returning tho this location thought. Not after how unwelcome and bothersome we were treated...
