I needed to find a coffee place before the morning start of 2 very important days and this place was excellent. They open at 7am which was perfect timing for me.
I was not expecting much walking into a place like this but the evening prior, I spent some time talking to the evening employee and was surprised to see all the various types of coffee they have. Especially the cat poo coffee (Kopi Luwak) and Jamaican Blue Mountain!! I've tried both and knew that both were quite expensive so was very surprised to see it at this store. I wish my stay was longer because I would have loved to try it in their store and to hopefully see the original packaging especially for the Kopi Luwak because I've heard of "fakes" out there.
The following morning I came here and ordered one of the beans I haven't tried yet and they were nice enough to fill up my contigo thermos without extra charge. I appreciate that small but meaningful gesture. I again came back the morning after that and tried a different coffee. Both selections were excellent (Kenya and Dom Rep).
This place is definitely for hard core coffee drinkers and even if you're not, a great place to try something different and to introduce yourself to a little bit of the world of coffee. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be...
Read moreI stopped by yesterday and the barista was just what we needed during a long road trip. Super friendly from the get-go and offered us samples since we were unsure of what to get (even if we did know what we wanted, we were too tired to decide for ourselves). The barista's recommendations were delicious!
My traveling buddy got a Toddy Cold Brew with sugar. It was refreshing and delicious even without additives, but a little sweetener brought out a fuller flavor in the coffee.
I got the kafette with sugar. The idea of coffee grounds being in my cup was so novel to me that I had to try it. ORDER IT. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. The coffee is strong, but not acidic. Super aromatic - the coffee's fragrances fill your entire mouth with every sip. Protip: after letting the grounds settle for 5-10 min, take SMALL SIPS, and once you get a little grounds in your mouth, let it settle again before taking another sip. If you get more grounds, that's it for your drink. I got a mouthful of grounds because I habitually take big sips, but the grounds themselves are DELICIOUS and go down easily since they are so finely ground.
TL;DR - Barista nice. Cold brew good....
Read moreI just loved the coffee here. I had a Columbian French press black coffee. It had an amazing flavour. I paired it with the prepackaged salted caramel cookie. I think they don't have freshly baked stuff right now due to covid. The place is beautiful too. Old wooden furniture and hand painted walls. There's a mural on the wall that I loved. It's a woman standing in a storage unit with coffee. The washroom door is cleverly morphed into the mural so I had to pay attention to look for it. The thermostat is a truck, and the plug board is a barrel. The guy who made me my coffee was patient and seemed to love what he was doing. He explained to me with great interest the kinds of coffee origins they had that day and how each one of them tasted. This helped me choose what I wanted. I've never seen a more passionate person behind the counter at a coffee place. Really nice...
