My girlfriend and I have eaten here several times. Recently, we waited for a table for nearly an hour only to find out we were completely forgotten about. Management was prompt in addressing our concern with that and even gave us a free breakfast. That was nice of them, but overall it just wasn’t a good experience. We decided to give them another try as it really isn’t fair to judge a restaurant with only one bad experience.
This morning, we arrived for breakfast and was seated rather quickly despite several people waiting in line. It was slightly chilly outside, so we requested that the gas heater next to us be turned on. Almost 10 minutes of sitting with not a single server or employee coming to assist, we are told the heater is out of gas. Okay, no big deal. The gentleman that reported to us offered us a free pastry for the inconvenience. We accepted the offer, decided what we would like to have and off he went. A second server approaches us and asks about drinks and pastries. We explain we were already offered a pastry for free, and then ordered our drinks and food because we had already been sitting for nearly 20 mins. Our drinks are brought to us, and as they arrive we are told they are all out of the pastry we had chosen. Alright, no big deal. We chose another one. Minutes later it is brought to us, we enjoy it. 35 mins go by, as we chat and look around we notice our server has visited nearly every table outside except ours. No food has been brought to us, no update as to how much longer we will continue to wait. By now our drinks are empty and we are growing impatient. Our food arrives just before we are about to inquire. The gentleman that brings our food to us asks if we need anything else. We ask for our drinks to be replenished, and inquire about some missing food from our order. He agrees to get right on it. He never does. Drinks are never replenished, our missing food never arrives, our normal/initial server never returns to check on us or ask how our food tastes. We completely finish our food and remain seated for quite some time before our waiter (whom has walked past our table dozens of times by now) finally comes to ask if we need anything. Upset and disappointed with the lack of attention we experienced, we requested our bill (which was incorrect as they billed us for the pastry that was suppose to be complementary) paid it and left. This is the second time that we have been forgotten or ignored at this location. The food is “okay,” it is nothing spectacular. We have continued to go because it is close by and not terribly expensive. The service at this location is very hit or miss. We won’t be returning after today, it simply isn’t worth the risk of...

I'm very happy to see that this delicious new breakfast/brunch spot has opened up in Tucson! Now I have a spot I can go to with my family whenever I am visiting that makes me feel as I'm right back in SoCal at a delicious brunch restaurant. I like it here even more though, because the vibe is a lot more relaxing and laid back. The prices are also great!
I've come here with my family twice now. Both times, I had an amazing experience. The staff here are all extremely friendly and accommodating. They visit your table frequently to make sure you are well taken care of. The food comes out in literally no time at all! I was so impressed by the speed at which they brought out the orders! It also hasn't seemed difficult to get a table by walking in at most hours of the day, which is different a plus to me, coming from the Los Angeles area where there's usually hour long waits!
As for the food, I find it absolutely exquisite and delicious. It is VERY fresh and you can see the quality and care that goes into it. All of the dishes are beautifully presented. I loved the biscuits and gravy that I got here the first time, as well as the fried chicken sandwich that I got the second time. Everything thing looks so intricately placed and freshly prepared - you're almost nervous to bite into it! But once you do, the flavor explosions put you into the stratosphere of heaven! I love it!
I usually get a coffee with my meal, and they are quick to offer refills if it's looking low. They also have some interesting mimosa options. I really enjoyed the seasonal special that they had. It was a cranberry flavor. Very fruity and delicious! They also offered us a bunch of their croissants and other pastries for free, rather than throwing them out, as they were nearing closing time. Very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste of those as well!
I've had an excellent experience twice at Prep & Pastry so far! I look forward to visiting frequently whenever I'm in town, and I highly advise this place to anyone else looking for some fresh, delicious...
Read more2/11/2023. Another excellent meal! I had the cast iron duck confit whiling dining in and blueberry scones to go. Wow, the confit was delightful, flavorful, tasty, and something I will most definitely order again. With spinach and goat cheese to go with the duck, potatoes, and eggs, the flavor combination is spot-on and delicious. The scones: moist and blueberry-licious. Also, the staff did a great job and the place just had a good ambiance with the decor and music. Well done!

April 2022. A colleague and I had breakfast at Prep and Pastry this (Monday) morning and, wow, I daresay I now have an awesome brunch spot not far from my residence. We sat outside in the patio area on a very pleasant, sunny morning. I'll start by saying the service was exceptional. Everyone was friendly, attentive, chatty, and fun to be around. I ordered the Poblano Verde Benni because, well, I love eggs Benni and I love this twist on a what-would-hopefully-be a bit spicy, too. While turning out not being spicy by my taste, this was a delicious Bennie that included carnitas with the perfectly cooked eggs Benni. This is a substantial meal because...well....brunch! But no regrets and I'll definitely return to try other items on the menu. Besides the pastries, I'll have to try the omelettes, Cast Iron Duck Confit (yum!), Breakfast Poutine (oh my!), and others, too. I could go on. Really. So, great job, gang. Keep up...
