For those of you that have followed me on Google for my reviews and those of you that ever reviewed my reviews on Google know that I am pretty easily satisfied with service and food when it comes to a great dining experience. This place is no exception, in fact it is the example of amaizing. All the places I've reviewed and given great reviews to this one deserves the creme Dela creme. Out of all of the dining experiences in Tucson Arizona, and everybody that knows Tucson is the culinary Mecca the southwestern States, this place is hands-down the top three places in Tucson to dine. I can't describe how awesome and amazing the food here is. Every menu item is truly delectable and you will never be are you satisfied. Whether you're dining in or carrying out or having a food delivery via one of the many food delivery services in the area, you will never ever be disappointed. From the first time I ordered from this amazing culinary establishment, from one of the local food delivery services, all the way up until the time I dine there I was never disappointed. The proportions are amazing. I don't know where to begin. I've never had ribs nearly as good as this anywhere and I have eaten a LOT of ribs, in a lot of places. The first time I got the ribs from this establishment I didn't think it was even humanly possible to make something so heavenly. The dining experience within the establishment is amazing as well. The wait staff is unmatched. Every time we've ordered out or ordered in it has always been by far the best dining experience I have experienced with in Tucson Arizona. I very much recommend this place extremely highly to anybody that is looking for something Beyond extraordinary. I honestly cannot wait to go back. PS, I recommend the...
Read moreI have been driving by THG for months now thinking I need to stop in for a meal and see what they are all about. Last week, when I was too lazy to cook -- we did just that.
We stopped in on a Thursday evening around 6ish and I was quite surprised to not see this place busy based on the reviews I had read. It is a nice big open restaurant (with outdoor seating) and bar. The kitchen is open and sits in the middle of the restaurant. The place was super clean, loved the decor/design and vibe which was western. The staff were ALL very nice, welcoming and attentive. Our server was Shawn and he was great.
They started us off with these little cornbread muffins that came with a chipotle/jalapeno butter (I think, I was sort of half paying attention). I am not a big fan of corn bread, but I tried one and I actually liked it. I ordered a cheeseburger that was mesquite grilled (the draw for me) with the fries. My Hubs ordered the 'surf & turf' which was a 6 oz sirloin and grilled prawns, plus salad bar trip and baked potato. Our food was really good, and we both loved the grilled flavors. I am not sure if the hamburgers are truly "fresh" like the menu says...the patty was too perfectly shaped, but it did not taste like it was thawed. I only call this out because there are places in town that use fresh ground beef and you can clearly see they make their patties by hand.
Dessert -- we wanted the s'mores skillet BAD but we were short on time. We did the Mason jar Cheesecake instead which was really really good. Shawn had me sold when he said all the desserts were housemade.
Obviously, I am coming back for a) the s'mores skillet (how could I not?) and b) I want to try the THG Two meat plate so I can taste...
Read moreWe have enjoyed dozens of delicious meals at Horseshoe, for special occasions as well as just because we were in the mood for their food. Sunday was my birthday and, given the present state of health affairs and our age, we wouldn't be going out to celebrate. So we opted for Horseshoe's curbside service.
What a pleasure! It was easy to order; we called when we arrived; our food was brought out in minutes and placed in the open car trunk. Downside? The fragrance was almost too much to bear on the ride home.
So the takeout process went smoothly, but you might wonder how the food fared by the time it got home. I ordered the ribs. They were falling-off-the-bone luscious: meaty, tender, juicy, and flavorful. And there was enough that we'll be enjoying them again tonight. Our loaded baked potatoes were perfectly roasted and expertly topped. The jalapeño corn muffins are complimentary when dining in, so we wanted (needed?) to order them separately. At $1.99 for an order of those darling little muffins, it was totally worth it. Pretzel rolls were also part of the package, and we split one to try it. Really good, but we had so much food that we are saving them for sliders later this week.
Since it was for a birthday, we had to have the best dessert in town: the s'mores skillet. The takeout version came in a foil pan instead of cast iron, but was as phenomenal as when dining inside the restaurant. Someone had thoughtfully written a note with heating directions, so when ready, we popped it in the oven for ten minutes at 350, poured on the cup of chocolate, sprinkled the graham crumbs, and dumped the container of vanilla ice cream on top. Can a dessert be vulgarly decadent? This one is - in...
