Black Bear Diner Tulsa — Restaurant in Tulsa

Arrived at 1145am wait time 15-20 minutes.

Sat down at 1201pm, not a bad wait. Hostess seats us with 3 menus and states waitress will be over shortly. So far so good.

At 1225pm our waitress comes over finally to get our drink order and says she will return shortly for food order.

1245pm our 1st waitress returns to take food order this will be the last time we see our original waitress.

At 1310 a different waitress comes by the table asks about refills, we all say yes, she responds with well what are you drinking your table was just handed to me. Refills are returned at 1313pm.

Food finally arrives by 3 server at 1330, food is Luke warm at best.

Kiddo takes 2-3 bites of her pancake says dad there dry. I have ordered 3ggs. French toast, and sausage, and I end up getting eggs, pancakes, and sausage. Before I I could stop the server she was gone.

At this point it's now almost 1345pm no other server has arrived back at the table, and where just sitting there waiting.

We over hear another table of customers saying the same thing poor service and wait times unreasonable.

Look around the the dinner place is full of dirty tables that where there before we arrived and still there after we left.

I finally get my check at 1400pm, another rude encounter with another different waitress.

Take my check to the front, only nice lady was running the register. Asks how our meal was and you could tell already she has already heard it enough from other patrons.

I tell her not her fault pay for meal and walk out.

From the time we walked in at 1145am-1405pm, poor service, lack of attendance to customers, and dirty tables, servers are rude.

Used to love black bear, luckly I didn't just walk out and not pay.

Will not be returning and adding this to my black listed...

I have dined here several times within the past 6 months and every time the food and service has been great. Except this last time. I ordered a burger and as soon as it got to the table I immediately notice a metal shaving attached to the knife stuck in the burger. Presumably this was from some type of metal scrub brush for washing dishes. I let the waitress know and she offered to have the burger remade. I didn’t want to risk ingesting other metal particles that may have been inside the burger, so I accepted this offer and patiently waited for the new burger. After some time, the new burger came out and everything was tasting great. Until about half way through the new burger, I found part of a strawberry mixed in with the toppings. Now this was just a regular burger no specialty strawberry jam burger. Luckily, I am not allergic to strawberries so it wasn’t a huge deal and I proceeded to finish my burger. When the waitress came with the check, I alerted her again I found an unexpected item in my food. I was already half expecting the food to be comped considering I had found a metal shaving the first time! She said she would talk to someone about having the food comped before I even mentioned it. She let me know she was unable to have anyone comp the food and that I could ask for the manager when I went to pay. So when we went up to pay and the cashier asked me how the food was, I told her exactly what I experienced and she asked if I wanted to speak with the manager and I said yes. She came back with no manager and claimed they were on break at the moment. She asked for my name and number and told me the manager would be in contact with me to potentially work something out. First I'll start with the obvious, it was extremely understaffed for the amount of customers and it being a Saturday night. While I understand this happens this obviously impacted my experience and the rating along with it and I'm sure the cause for the issues we had with our food. Took us a while to even get acknowledged when we walked in. The manager finally came to greet us and then rushed off to get our table ready. He was also assisting other customers that were already dining so took us a while to get seated. He took our drink order and then we didn't see him for a while, he was running around very sporadically obviously trying to fill in lots of roles due to short staffing whether unplanned or lack of proper management. Another waitress came over to ask if we had been helped yet and got our drinks. We ordered food and when it arrived, we had lots of little things wrong with the food. Incorrect salad dressings, steak well over done when ordered medium, incorrect sides with kids meals, missing dipping sauces that were ordered with meal. The manager came over to refill our drinks once and got most of them wrong. Overall food was ok, especially for the price point. It's not likely I'll seek out this establishment again but if I'm ever in the area and hungry for breakfast food I'd like to give it another chance. I saw several other tables with breakfast items that looked delicious. The menu was huge and I'm sure there are some really good options that could be executed well with the proper staff and management. Finally, our waitress was friendly and seemed pretty composed for how busy she was, just wait too much for her to handle by herself. I sure hope management is able to get her help and that this one experience is not indicative...
