I’m visiting one of my dear friends and she raved about Ediblends knowing how much I love an acai bowl. The woman at the teller was darling and accommodating for a substitution and a few add ons to the bowl. I was appreciative how sweet she was about it and left a large tip as a thank you.
My friend got her bowl right away and I waited for awhile for my bowl. When I finally received my bowl it did not have anything that I asked for, even though I paid extra for all this. I felt terrible and apologized and said this wasn’t what I asked for. The girl making the bowl gave me a dirty look and I just dismissed it and assumed she was having a bad day and I would just let it go.
So I scraped off the things I wanted substituted in the trash and disregarded it. My friend was furious and I was disappointed for I paid extra money for additions to my bowl I did not receive, left a large tip as a thank you for making the accommodations, and not receiving what I ordered and an attitude from the girl making the bowl.
I’ve worked in the service industry for years, so I get it, sometimes the job can be rough and not everyone is going to have a great day. However, that was my first impression of the business and the behavior was really not professional and that experience alone angered my friend, a frequent customer who works in Utica Square, enough that she doesn’t want to come back.
My bowl wasn’t what I asked for, but it was fine. The woman at the till was so lovely and charming and truth be told, she encouraged the better review because she was just darling.
I think it’s important to remember everyone has tough days, but maybe not project that on others, especially to customers who are spending money at the place of...
Read moreThe food here is pretty delicious, especially the hummus bowls and taco bowl. The smoothies are pretty sweet and high in fruit sugar so I always make my own, so I’m glad they have that option. I love their Friday special raw cakes which is made specially by some very talented women. I do love their space, it’s beautifully done, bright and comfortable to sit in. The people who work there are very friendly too. However it’s appalling that they use so much plastic. To me, eating healthy and nourishing the body is also about taking care of the environment, and I find it ironic that businesses like these don’t take any initiatives in that front. The amount of plastic, and plastic bags used is pretty dismal. In this day and age when we can use biodegradable products and other types of bags, I feel that businesses can and should be held more responsible to save the environment, especially health conscious and plant based ones. Some of the snacks in the cafe are also not healthy, they have chips with vegetable oils and maltodextrin, and brown rice syrup. Vegetable oils are known to cause free radical damage to cells and maltodextrin and brown rice syrup are sugars, known to raise insulin levels. And definitely not natural. I really wish businesses would pay attention to...
Read moreJuices are good so far. Service was good until i called the day i was supposed to pick up. They didnt know who i was and asked which location i was supposed to pick up from, umm, i was at utica square yesterday afternoon, paid $172 for a cleanse (you pay prior and thats totally fine bc i get that part) but no notes on who is who and who paid? Anyway, i let them know i could not pick up until the next day and they said ok, thanks for letting them know. So, next day comes and when i go get my juices, the girl asked me who i talked to and then acted like i hadn't paid?? Umm, aren't you supposed to pay in advance and then they keep record of it? It was annoying to say the least and having to get my phone out and go through my email was even more so. Hopefully they keep better record soon. Other than that, I'm not opposed to buying from them again if ever i am near there and have time to stop in for one...
