I have a partiality for, mom and pop Mexican restaurants operated in “hole in the wall” venues. They are especially easy to discover in Oklahoma. The best part is sampling the variations of common Mexican dishes prepared “home style” by the owners. And here we have” La Flama.” The interior and furnishings at La Flama are well worn. The service is fast and friendly. The chips had been under the heat lamp for way too many hours, the salsa very fresh and delicious. Our meals were the Grilled Chicken Enchiladas and the San Lucas Chicken. Both were unique presentations. The enchiladas were corn tortillas dipped in red sauce filled with a very small amount of chopped grilled chicken, folded, with a liberal amount of more chopped grilled chicken on top. The San Lucas Chicken, was a thin chicken breast with a mild chipotle sauce, covered with melted mozzarella cheese, and a bonus of three grilled shrimp. Both meals were freshly prepared, mildly seasoned. Californicated Mexican food, it is not. Not quite what I would call OkieMex either. My best guess is home style AUTHINIC Mexican food. I make this clarification up front so, if you are expecting OkieMex you may be disappointed. If you are looking for food biased more toward authentic, give it a try. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" by Spike S. on Yelp. I've probably been there.

La Flama has amazing food! It is our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff. Will customize your order. Authentic food. Small restaurant in the Pearl District. Not far from the Mother Road Market. Directly across the street from Flo's Burgers. Highly recommend! *I don't think they have beer or liquor. I love the Bean Tostadas and the Bean Huarache. No meat or cheese, this is my preference. The tostadas and huaraches typically come with meat and cheese. I like to add jalepenos and avocado. I've also, had the Taco Salad here and it was outstanding. Husband likes the Lemon Pepper Tilapia. The Fish Tacos with grilled peppers and onions as a side order. He also, likes the Chicken Tacos. No cheese, his choice. The salsa is fantastic! They have 2 other salsas, too. I always ask for these with my meal. A green one and a super spicy orange one. Local restaurant, not a chain type place.

What awful service. I've been here several times and ordered the same plate but today was horrible. The lady treated me as if I was a nobody pure nobody. I couldnt pronounce the dish I wanted but she said she understood and I ordered the same nacho plate I always get. I received the steak nachos with very little steak and brown gauc, no pico at all and mozzarella instead of queso blanco which I requested and paid extra for. Im so upset I come here so much and t

This is a little hole in the wall fairly authentic Mexican restaurant. The food was very good all around. Cilantro seemed to be a prominent ingredient which I like, but you might want to look elsewhere if you don't care for it. The homemade chips were great and the salsa was pretty good too. They later brought out a hotter sauce for chips and a tomatillo sauce I believe, which was pretty good. We also had the queso which seemed to be on par with other Mexican restaurants, but was nothing special. For the main entrees, we had enchiladas which were great and several different tacos. I like to be adventurous with food, so I tried the beef tongue, cheek meat, and cactus leaf tacos. They weren't all my thing, but still an enjoyable new experience. They also had Mexican Coke which I am...
